Reading TKAM with kids

What age do you think is the youngest it's okay to read TKAM with kids?  T is 4 1/2, and I know she's definitely too young to get a lot of what's going on, but do you think I should not read it with her because of that?  I don't think there's anything scary in it; it's just over her head.  DH bought her a very nice hardcover copy of it when she was a baby, so she already owns it.  She plays with the book all the time, and DH used to read it to her as an infant, but we haven't read it to her since she's been big enough for chapter books.  She was asking me to read her random pages from it over the weekend, and I got to thinking how I was wanting to re-read it for our discussion this month anyway . . .

Re: Reading TKAM with kids

  • TKAM is my absolute favorite book. DS is 5 and I don't think I would read it to him.  I don't think he would appreciate it and I want the first time he hopefully reads it to be awesome.  :)  That being said if she is just asking for random pages to be read, I would be down for that, just not the whole book.
