So, hubby and I live in a beautiful condo that has more than enough space for the two of us, hardwood floors, and an amazing river view from our bedroom. And , somehow this beautiful place was in our budget. Here is the issue, our downstairs neighbors are making it VERY hard to enjoy our home (the condos are like a tripple decker, we are on the second floor). Our landlord owns the third floor and lives above us. She is very sweet. However, the first floor family owns their unit independantly, and thinks that have more rights since they own and we rent.
There are two entrences for the condo unit, the front facing a busy road and the nice private back entrance. There is a hing lock on the back door that you can not open with a key. They have locked me out several times because they do not want us using the back door, eventhough it gives access to the common room and then the stairs to our place. (This violates the condo agreement, which they signed). Today the door was locked in the afternoon and the guy was there cleaning. I asked him several times to please open the door and he ignored me, and went to the hallway, leaving me locked outside. I can't believe someone with two children would be so rude and inmature! They also use the common area as a playroom for their children (which they are not supposed to do) and it is often very messy. They also yell at us for "waking up their two year old son" when we are sleeping and bang on the walls if I workout at 6-7pm when my landlord works out in her place even later and does intense cardio. They let their kids run up and down the stairs bright and early on weekend mornings and they scream in the hallway. At the last meeting, they got mad at me for accidently dropping my keys at 10pm when I came home and apparently the sound of my keys hitting the ground was too much to bear. They even did a wonderful reanactment. (They are in their late 30s early 40s). When I see them in the driveway, they usually do not say hello back and instead give me mean looks. They are being extra out of control because they know our lease is almost up and want us to leave (my landlord said due to the issues she would not rent the second floor out again if we left and they know that). My landlord agreed to go with me to talk to them, and the man swore at us and tried to say lied about us breaking the lease. She then called to schedual a meeting with him and he hung up on her.
Our lease is up in two weeks but its very hard to find a decent place in our budget and if we moved, we would have to be in a 30-45 min commute from work. ATM I am an 8 min. drive and hubby is 3/10ths of a mile from work so we got very lucky there! We would also have to sacrifice space and deal with the hastle of moving which we don't want to do. Landlord agreed to do month to month so at least we don't have to stay a whole year but it is getting so bad with the neighbors and they won't listen to the lady who owns 2/3rds of the building! SO FUSTURATING.
