FBC: 2013 movie, Safe Haven (ns)

I've never read a book my Nicholas Sparks and the only other movie adaptation based on his books that I've seen was The Notebook. I thought Safe Haven the book and the movie were just barely ok. I'm not really getting the Nicholas Sparks hype after reading and watching this. I did like the actors in the movie, that was probably the best part.

my read shelf:
Jenn's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • I don't get the hype either. I always buy his books and read them though so that I have something to discuss with my sister (her only author).

  • Yeah. Nicholas Sparks is a HORRIBLE writer. Like, I rather read the back of a cereal box. I do not get his success as a book writer. He should've just been a screenplay writer, because I have generally enjoyed the movies (Safe Haven was quite the turd though). I tried reading Safe Haven and my brian hurt 3 chapters in. I wish I could say "different strokes..." but I am baffled when I meet someone that LOVES his novels.
