Anyone want to share what they will be making for thanksgiving ?!
None of my usual recipes sound appealing to me so I'm looking for some new ideas :-)
Re: Thanksgiving recipes
I am going to roast some veggies. Carrots for sure and likely Brussels sprouts.
I am also making my dad's famous sweet potatoes (no semblance of healthy ahead):
5 pounds of sweet potatoes peeled, cut into large chunks, and boiled until soft (I peel and cut them the night before and place in a pot with water to sit overnight and boil in the morning)
2 sticks of butter
1 small bag of brown sugar
2 navel oranges, sliced thin
Melt butter in an electric skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar and oranges. Stir quickly until the brown sugar is absorbed into the butter, making a sauce. Add sweet potatoes and turn heat to low. Cover and cook for 3-4 hours, basting and stirring occasionally to cover the the sweet potatoes and prevent scorching. They are done when they almost fall apart and the butter and sugar is caramelized.
Anyone want MIL's mtn dew ham recipe?!
JK, Actually her new BF got her a turkey, so we are having both. WOOHOO!
I usually do desserts and/or bread.

@willyH19 - did you say - Why yes, yes they are!
Actually H corrected me, It's Sun drop, not mtn dew. It's the same thing to me, but I think Sun drop is only in the carolinas.
We are also making homemade vanilla ice cream, baked Bree with pepper jelly, and stuffing with bacon!
My biological mom is house sitting for us, so we're making her a small loaf of banana bread to serve Thursday since she's having my side of the family over. They go nuts every time DH bakes, so it'll be like we're there.
I tried to find the recipe from DH's cookbook if anyone would want it:
