My husband is scared to have sex this last trimester....any one else have this issue? what did you do to try and help it?

I showed him 2 sections in baby books about it and he is still nervous bc everything says 'may' or 'might'...am I doomed until after baby comes & body heals????

I like the fact he cares so much...but at the same time it sucks :(

  • Can he go to the Dr. with you for your next prenatal appointment? Maybe if he could ask the doctor himself about your specific pregnancy he would feel more at ease.

  • mummmmmmmmmmm...

Visit Doctors may help you some, only baby books convey not exact info to your husband...my wife and me had the same traces.

Tomorrow I till accompany with you to watch The Vampire Diaries or True Blood, Honey.
  • What exactly is he scared of?  That info is needed before advice can be offered.

If he's worried about hitting the baby, then you use the "attached garage" metaphor.  As in, you park your car in the attached garage, not the house.  Parking your car in the garage does not effect what's happening inside the house.

If he's worried he'll send you into early labor, there's nothing to be scared of unless you're HR.

If he's just skeeved out by it, you may be SOL until after the baby.

I'd be asking more questions about what exactly is bothering him and probably taking him to the doc with me for some information to ease his mind.

  • While it largely can't impact the pregnancy there is an issue that is seldom discussed.  If your DH is larger than average and you had issues with him hitting your cervix before you were pregnant he needs to go shallower.  This was our problem.

  • Well, he'd better hop to it now if he wants any sex at all. Remind him that you have to wait a minimum of 6 weeks postpartum to be cleared for sex again.

  • Tell him to grow a pair and suck it up.  You might also want him to join the Dad's board on the Bump where we can give him advice.
  • my uterus is tilted downward and we had that problem prior to pregnancy, esp when I had a Mirena IUD...sometimes he would hit it the wrong way and I would be in pain for hours because of it...

  • That's what I told him! & I get very crabby when I have to go long in between love sessions...esp 6wks!

  • Good luck... my husband was the same way! I assured him that it was safe, and actually good for me... my doc also assured him, but to my hubby he just couldn't get over the fact that his son was right there - which I could respect.

Once baby was in a crib and out of my belly, things were right back to the way they were. :) We could barely make it through the 6 week healing period!
