Is calligraphy too much?

For a 3 yr old's party? The (custom) invites are kinda fancy, as it's a tea-party theme. Not to mention I can get the calligraphy done CHEAP through a contact of mine.

In case this helps as a frame of reference, here's pics of my daughter's b-day from last yr: http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c252/keltex23/?action=view?t=608ffb1c.pbw

Yes, we kinda go all out.

  • Yes, it is too much.

  • I can't open the photo, but yes, I think calligraphy is too much.  It sounds like you're the Joneses everyone's trying to keep up with...and I don't know that I'd want to be the cause of that much angst.  Not trying to be snarky, I just remember what it was like as a kid to try to keep up and not be able to.
  • I also couldn't see the picture - but I don't necessarily think calligraphy is too much.

I use print the addresses in a nice font for almost every party I throw...and the font goes with the style of the invitation.

I say if they go with the invite and you are going "all out" for the party - it's fine.

I'm not against big parties for kids, but I don't think anyone should spend more than they can afford - or raise their kids to feel entitled. I'm not saying that is what you are doing AT ALL. A lot of parents go all out for childs parties - as long as they can afford it (and they aren't spoiling them) I don't see the harm in it.
  • I appreciate your honest opinions...and was kinda on the fence about it anyway....I go all out, but not in a completely over the top way. I think I will just do computer printed addressing in a font that matches the invite.
