What are you giving up...

Re: What are you giving up...

  • I am a horrible Catholic. I try to give up something every year and it never works out. I usually catch myself eating sweets or chocolate within days of Ash Wednesday. : (  My Mom and sister (my sis is 12) do pretty good every year with giving up snacks/sweets.

  • This year I decided to try and improve something rather than give something up.  I want to make it to church with Allie every Sunday during Lent.  I have really become a slacker and need to get back on the horse.

  • I'm actually trying to think of something to give up. I had originally thought of giving up pop because I like it so much and drink a lot of it, but I recently was put on a new medication that makes all pop taste terrible to me (I even asked my doctor and she said that it is definitely a side effect of the med I am on). So now I'm trying to find something else to give up. I don't really have any other vices so I'm kind of stuck.

  • For the past few years, I try to 'do' something rather than give something up.  I go to Mass at least one extra day during the week and this year I am going to make it to confession - I haven't been in probably 10 years!!

  • I've done alcohol, television, and red meat before. Cussing - done it. I'm strongly considering fried foods this year, but then I'd miss out on yummy fish fry Fridays. Ugh.

Maybe I'll try and talk the husband into both of us giving up carry-out/delivery. I just went to the grocery store and stocked our pantry.

  • I am working on two things for Lent this year. 1) My potty mouth (sadly I have already caught myself no fewer than 5 times today) and 2) I am going to be a less aggressive, more patient driver. I am pretty bad with the road rage.
