How are your husband and MIL doing (if you feel like posting about it)?
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

Re: **Sibil**

  • Hey, thanks for asking, 2V.

Honestly, I don't know how things are going. ?I had a couple hectic weekends where I flew down to Phoenix immediately after class and flew back immediately before. ?But, it was really good to see H, even under unfortunate conditions.

His mom was far worse than we'd thought. ?The first weekend, she was already taking morphine. ?I didn't expect her to be in that kind of pain yet nor look like she's aged 20 years since October. ?The 2nd weekend she had her first chemo treatment, and she took it like a champ. ?She actually was in less pain and was more alert the 2nd weekend, so that was a good note for us to leave on. ?She was even eating quite a bit which surprised me. ?Then again, I was the one cooking for her :) ?I'm still reluctant to say she'll be dead in 6 months like her prognosis said. ?I just have no personal experience beyond my mom, and I was 6 at the time, that would let me judge how bad it really is.

H is back in Iraq now, and given that he's always calling me from a public area, he's reluctant to talk about the situation in any emotional terms. ?His mom is also reluctant to say anything other than she's doing "well." ?So, really, I don't know the situation right now since I won't know anything in that family unless I see it for myself. ?Not that it has anything to do with me; they just don't really share in that way.

  • No problem Sibil.  I have been meaning to ask you and keep forgetting to do so.

I'm glad your MIL did better the second weekend you were there...I'm sure your cooking made her feel loved and well taken care of. I do not have any personal experience other than my grandparents .... and that was YEARS I couldn't tell you what to expect or look for.  As for how your husband and your MIL are speaking to you, they are probably just having a hard time verbalizing what they are feeling and/or don't want to upset you.  Maybe there's a bit of denial as well.

Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you..... take care....
