Talk to me about allpurpose vinegar cleaner

Ok, so I finally got a spray bottle yest. and I haven't got the book, organic housekeeping, yet so what is the ratio of vinegar to water for an all purpose cleaner? What will it clean and what should I not clean with it? Thanks.

Re: Talk to me about allpurpose vinegar cleaner

  • I do approximately 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water.    I also add a couple drops of soap (I use Dr. Bronners, but dishsoap would be fine).   Sometimes I add essential oils.

I use it to clean almost everything....kitchen countertops, stove, refrigerator, stainless steel trashcan, linoleum floors, bathroom mirror, sink, outside of toilet, windows, wood floors, dampen a rag with it to dust, etc. Since vinegar gets rid of odors, I also mist the dog's bed with it.  :)

The only thing I don't use this cleaner for is the bathtub (I use baking soda and Dr. Bronner's) and the inside of the toilet bowl (I use baking soda and undiluted vinegar).

  • I use 1/6 C vinegar and 2 C water with 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch.  It has worked great for me on just about everything.  Even glass/mirrors.  It doesn't streak.
  • Thanks.. I'm super ready to start cleaning with non toxic cleaners

  • Thanks for this. I think as soon as we finish up our old cleaners, we're switching too

Us too, I switched to the Clorox Greenworks thinking that would be better for us but today when I cleaned the bathroom the combination of the smell from their toilet bowl cleaner and regular bathroom cleaner was awful.
