Gift idea for 6 year old nephew

Hi ladies,

I am in need of some advice for my 6 year old nephew's upcoming birthday.  His older sister just turned 8 in February and we got her horseback riding lessons because we kind of flaked out on Christmas (I had a baby on 12/20), so we need to get him something that is equally "big" and exciting.  Any ideas?  I would love to do something like we did with his sister and get him something that he could look forward to doing, instead of the same old things that he already has.  Thanks!

  • What is he into...?

Maybe a sports camp or swim lessons? Roller skates and passes to a local rink?  Or have a special night out for a baseball or hockey game, or a monster truck rally?

  • Get him something fun and something he can keep.:)

The Something he can keep would be a kid's magazine like Highlights.
  • Children's science museum passes.

    Zoo season tickets.

    Trip to amusement park.

Take him to a major league baseball game.

  • It would help if we knew his interests. Maybe some sort of playground for their yard if they have one? I have no idea how much horse back riding lessons cost so yeah...

I agree, it's hard to make suggestions without anything to go off of. I do like the idea of getting him something to do, and something to keep.

I think lessons might be a little to much for a 6 year old to handle so I would go more along the lines of taking him somewhere. A sports game, a museum or science center, or anything along those lines seems like a good idea to me.

As for something he can keep, you could buy something that goes in the theme of your little day trip. Otherwise I always think books, art supplies, or a creative toy is perfect at that age. Personally I would probably go with something like:
    paints or legos.
