Best/Worst book of February

What was your favorite/least favorite read for the month of February? What made it so great or disappointing?

I only read 3 books this month (well I only finished 3, I read a bunch that I'm stuck in the middle of)

Best - The Confidant by Helen Gremillon - a little predictable but engaging

Worst - The Wine of Solitude by Irene Nemirofsky - could be called 'The Whine of Solitude". I felt no sympathy for her main character whatsoever... and apparently it's somewhat autobiographical.

Re: Best/Worst book of February

  • I read 7 books this month which is also a slow month for me.  Those 2 weeks in DisneyWorld weren't exactly a lay in the sun and read kind of vacation.

Best: It's a tie between Frostbite and Shadow Kiss (VA #2 and 3).  I love this series!

Worst: All I Want is Everything - This is a Gossip Girl book.  I love the tv show but I just can't get into the books.  This is #3 in the series, I think, but I couldn't wait for it to end.  I think I'm going to take a break from the series for awhile.

  • I only read two books and listened to four books.

Best:  Just One Day by Gayle Forman - - I rated it 4 stars (along with all of the In Death books I listened to) but I really enjoyed it and can't wait for Just One Year.

Worst:  City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - - I rated it 3 stars.  I liked it and will eventually read the rest of the series, but I didn't love it.  It's only getting the "worst" category because everything else I read/listened to got 4 stars.

  • No worst book of the month for me, but my favorite was definitely A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson.  As the fourteenth and final book in The Wheel of Time series, it did a great job of wrapping up many of the plots and had a good ending, even if I could have used another 100+ pages in the epilogue.  I loved some of the characters so much, it was a little tough to say goodbye.

  • I have read 9 books so far this month (will be 10 by the end of the day).

Best:  A Rip in the Veil by Anna Belfrage-It was another time travel back to Scotland book but it had a different twist and I loved the characters.

Worst:  City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare-I am so over this series.  The last 50 pages or so kept me from completely hating the book but it was pretty painful to get through.

  • Best- Is a three way tie for me this month. The Red Tent by Anita Damiant, A Shot of Sultry by MB and Grave Memory by Kalayna Price. All very different books and awesome in their own way. I really can't pick just one out of the three.

Worst- Fields of Corn by Sarah Price. NoNo. It was my first Amish romance novel. I hated it. I would never read another one based on this book.

  • The best book for me was Pretty Little Liars.  I think that it was because it was a fast, easy read and I am not having those lately.

The worst I guess was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  It was a good book, but I didn;t really get into it until more than half way through.

I didn't read anything that I would call best, but the worst was A Scattered Life by Karen McQuestion

  • I didn't really have any worst books this month. The book that wowed me the most though would be The Demon King. The only reason I haven't started on The Exiled Queen yet is because I'm trying to make this series last.

And the book that wowed me the least this month would probably be Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. I did really like this book, but it didn't stand out as much as the other books this month.

  • Best: The Shoemaker's Wife, it was just such a beautiful story.

Worst:  I'm going to say The Speaker for the Dead, I should finish it today, it's just been a struggle to get through and it comes off as preachy to me.

  • The best books for me this month were The One and Only Ivan and The Light Between Oceans.  Both were just heartbreakingly beautiful in their own ways.

The worst is going to be Mad River Road which I am currently reading.  I don't like any of the characters and it seems so contrived.

Worst:  Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio.  I know some people loved it, but it was NOT my cup of tea.

Best: Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A. S. King.  Awesome book!

I'd imagine it was really different from the regular romance genre.  Are there a lot of other Amish romances?  I had no idea it was something that someone would write a book about, but I guess it makes sense.  There's a book for everyone out there!

  • Best - TFiOS - LOVED IT!  Pretty sure I read it in two sittings and that's rare for me.

Worse - 50 shades Freed, but I can now say I read all 3, and tell people, no it didn't get better...

  • I'm plugging along at a great rate this year so far. Out of the seven I read in February, I liked Musicophilia (Oliver Sacks) the least. I couldn't get interested in many of the cases. It was interesting at points but his writing style was very dull.

The Sea of Tranquility is my only five-star book so far this year. It was great!

Ya, There was still a love story, but I just couldn't get over the way the guy mc treated the girl mc. I don't think it had to do with the cultural difference. Just his character itself and hers. She started off as kind of a strong female and ended up being a door mat.  I see a lot of Amish romance showing up on GR and free kindle books. I think there are a couple of girls on here that have enjoyed them. It was for  reading out of my comfort zone for WBC.

  • I read 5 books in February and really liked them all. I gave 5 stars to The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen and The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I gave 4 stars to The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks, Wake by Lisa McMann, and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

I listened to My Name is Memory of Anne Brashares and gave it 3 stars, so I guess that would be my worst book of February.

Best - Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson.  It was light, historical fiction and just enjoyable.

  • I'm having a hard time remembering what I read in Feb.  Nothing blew me away but I didn't hate anything I read either.

Best was probably Flowertown, a coworker recommended it and I really enjoyed the story,  It wasn't a literary masterpiece but still fun to read.  I also really enjoyed the Fallen Star series.  I read the whole series in 4 days and it only cost me $3.

Worst: The Death Cure, I'm happy to be done with that series.  I didn't hate that book, but it was probably only 2.5 stars for me.  I will not be reading the prequel.

I should finish #14 for the year today.  I need to find a fast read to keep me busy until Tuesday.  Anyone else dying for Requiem?

  • Best: weight of silence by heather gudenkauf, great story with a twisting plot that kept me guessing up until the end

Worst: Forever Princess. It was an audio book and the narrator had a voice that I couldnt stand, I think I would have liked the book better if I read it.
