Is it ok to vent here?

Friends of ours are trying to have a baby.  That is ALL they talk about every single time we see them!  We could be talking about the weather, and during the same conversation it turns into baby conversation.

Recently they started fertility treatments.  Now she is 110% sure they will have twins by next Christmas.  Oy!   Don't get me wrong, I hope their dream of becoming parents becomes a reality.  Thats something my husband and I both want in the near future as well.  But I don't talk about it 24/7 or every time I see my friends!

Ok vent over!  Anyone dealing with the same thing?

Re: Is it ok to vent here?

  • I know exactly how you feel!  3 couples that stood up in our August wedding are now expecting. So every time we do anything with them, that is all they talk about. It is also difficult to have a conversation with them now, because we don't share the same views.

The way we look at it is we will learn from their pregnancy and parenting mistakes instead, and after listening to all these conversations, we will know what to expect.  In the end, it's between you and your husband on when you want to have children. Even if that means putting up with their constant baby conversations.

  • literally BRIJ i am you. My two maids of honors from our august wedding are pregnant and so is another couple in the weddinglol.

One friend barely talks about it except if you ask. And she is sure to ask what is going on in your life etc. One lives in another state so I don't see her that often.

    but the last one...OMG

she told "everyone" like her entire facebook list etc at 9 weeks. We knew at day 2 after she took the test. so we have heard about it since day 2 privately and since week 9, everytime i log into instagram or facebook or my email, we have another Set of photos of onseies she bought for teh baby. Yesterday was her week 12 appointment and she "celebrated" by buying a crib. Today I recieved an email with 14 photos documenting them setting it up. I wish i could say i was exaggerating.

  • Sorry you have to deal with this!

Oh Brina, I am so sorry. This last paragraph is exactly like our first couple who got pregnant. They told us 2 days after they found out, also. She would've been 4 weeks at that time. They are also very competitive with us, so it's been a huge slap in the face to us that they've been married longer than us and are having a baby before us. But even last night she posted a cookie on facebook that she drew a sperm on and wrote "fastest swimmer". Then her caption was "just some innocent cookie decorating."  There's also every single picture she ever posts with family, friends, etc, of her hugging her belly with her hands so you can definitely see her bump with her baggy shirts. I understand being excited, but not every post or word out of your mouth needs to be about the baby.

I think after seeing everything they talk about and especially post on Facebook, I've told H that I don't even want to post we're pregnant on there. And I'm sorry, but not every post is going to be about us being pregnant. We still have lives and are humanbeings.

OP thanks for posting about this. It sounds like there are quite a few of us with this same issue.

  • I was getting worried for a bit when I saw that so many people read the post but no one commented.   Guess we all have 'that couple' to deal with.  Lucky us =)

Hilaaarious! LoL Wait til the kid is born and when you call they put the kid that can't even talk yet on the phone. "Say hi.. Go on Say hi" "Gooogooo gaga?"

  • i am currently dealing with this with my bestfriend, they JUST found out on Monday that they are about 6-8 weeks and its ALLLLL she talks about, somehow "baby" can fit anywhere in her sentences... its getting a little annoying... but as she is my bestfriend i will hang tough and try to smile haha
  • AHHHHH.... how refreshing to know I am not alone. Apparently because our wedding is the big event in our families (our BILs and SILs opted on haphazard thrown together shin digs) they have decided to compete for the spotlight by getting pregnant. Did I mention that neither couple is financially stable and in fact can barely afford food and rent? My brother hasn't even been married 6 months and my SIL already had her mirena removed... she has had it for 3 years and mysteriously is having side effects all of a sudden. I'm an RN... no dice on that lame excuse. We get hitched in 3 weeks and MIL has been hounding us on how children are a blessing and she is lonely and we need to have a baby right away *facepalm*. This is NOT a race! and my God if it doesn't seem like that all the time! My friend is already taking Metformin and she hasn't even TRIED yet (they just got married last week). In true richmond speak: peeps be cray... My solution. Try when we feel like we are stable enought to have a little one, and keep adding years every time someone asks... Even if its something absurd like 50 years... LOL I can hear it now "When are we having grandbabies." "I decided to go for the Sara and Abraham approach to parenting... 90 years old seems a good age."
  • Did I mention that my SIL is only 11 wks pregnant and is already buying motherhood pantyhose?? THE FUNDUS ISN'T EVEN AT THE UMBILICUS!!! and she's slightly bigger than me (220 lbs) so I KNOW there aint no baby bump... Sometimes being a mother/baby/family planning nurse means knowing too much... and just how foolish people can be. 8 weeks is the most dangerous week of pregancy and you are still not homeclear until 16 weeks. I've seen so many public tragedies from people announcing too soon. sad sad sad....smh
  • I think anytime anyone talks about the same thing over and over again it can be annoying.  Maybe you could tactfully bring it up to them?  Or try to change the subject every time they bring it up.  ;)
