Never Let Me Go - Good book club selection?

It's my turn to choose next month's selection for book club and I'm considering Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go.  I know I've seen people talk about having read it around here before so I'm wondering what the opinion on it as a book club selection is.

We read a wide variety of books in my book club - fluff, historical fiction, sci-fi, etc. - and when it's my turn I usually just try to choose a book that I think will make for good discussion!  So, for those who have read it, do you think it will generate good discussion?  I have a feeling that it will, but I just can't tell based upon the summary.

I'm also open to suggestions if anyone has anything else that they think would be a good choice :)

It's one of my favorite books of last year. I think it will generate LOTS of good discussion about the meaning of humanity. Great selection for book club IMO!

  • I'm in the middle of reading it right now and I think it would make a great book to discuss at a book club.

I just read it a few months ago and I also agree it could generate interesting discussion.
  • It is a perfect choice. There are so many layers to read into it- even on the most basic level it is haunting and lyrical. I have never read a book before that had me openly weeping the second or third time through.
