Cradle cap ??

I can't remember who it was, maybe waterfall or iPoas, but you said something about olive oil and a toothbrush?  P has the tiniest little scaly patch and I want to nip it in the bud!  Do you let the oil sit for a bit? Or wash it out after? Learn me please.  =)

I used to use baby oil and a brush on Z's cradle cap. It got pretty gnarly around 3-4 months. A friend's baby's cap is so bad she took to using head and shoulders. Apparently that worked, too!

  • Yep, olive oil or coconut oil on the scalp then let it sit for a little while.  I let it sit for about 15 minutes I think.  Then use a soft baby brush to brush out all the gunk.  It's gross but it works!  Then shampoo once or twice to get the oil out.

  • It wasn't me, but M's pedi did tell me to use olive oil. I tried baby oil and she screamed like I was hurting her so I was afraid to do it again. I'm going to try olive oil next.

Ooh, good to know. I've been thinking about this, but I didn't want to hurt her and I figured it was gross but harmless. I'll have to try it this weekend.
  • I used olive oil and a soft toothbrush. I let it sit for about a minute, but I don't think you need to. Just small circles and then use the toothbrush again to sort of comb the gunk out. Then wash twice with baby shampoo.
