FHA appraisal today

Happened at 10:30 this morning. I feel like I am going to probably have a heart attack waiting for the results. We probably won't know until early next week, says the bank. So, super duper, I will just wait.*nervous laughter* noooo problem waiting.

Anyone do anything fun, home-related, today?

  • It's been a crazy week for us with the house, inspection and re-inspection went well, the appraisal went through great, we locked in our interest rate, and we're asking the sellers to close 10 days earlier. We're also doing a lease-back for almost 2 months until the sellers move (their military so they have to do it on the military's schedule, which actually works out really well for us and our current lease), so we're getting that paperwork signed as well. Fingers crossed everything continues on this really good path for us!!
  • Woohoo! Sounds like a productive and positive day for you guys!! So awesome.

  • Hope your appraisal works out!

We had our inspection this week. We did ask the seller to fix one item, but it is not going to be a dealbreaker if they refuse or want to split (about a $400-500 repair). Overall, the inspector said it was a very well built and maintained house, which was so great to hear.

We still have the radon inspection and appraisal to go, but I'm glad to be through another hurdle. It was also nice to get in the house again and measure some things and make a note of things we didn't on the last visit. It's so nice to look at the house with a view to us owning it.

  • I am still waiting to hear back on my appraisal today.  I hope they let me know today so I don't have to worry about it over the weekend.  Good luck on yours!
  • Hope your appraisal goes well. I got my mortgage committment letter from the bank today, yay! Hopefully we can select a closing date now.

  • My appraisal came back this afternoon.  It was done on the 27th.  The appraised it at what my contract is at.  I cannot see that they are asking me to fix anything.  I have sent it to my realtor and mortgage broker to make sure but it looks like I am good to go and now I am super excited!

Awesome! Is the home an older home or a newer home? Ours was built in 1948. So I am super worried it won't pass FHA, it's in good shape but I'm still so nervous.

  • I was worried about the same thing.  My house was built in 1959 but it is was in awesome shape and had a lot new items (windows, heat & air, water heater, roof, deck).  I just feel really happy that it went well.  I am sending positive vibes your way!  Guess it is time to start packing.
