Paragard people- check your strings regularly!!!!

I got mine in '09 when DS#1 was 4 or 5 months old.  We were not planning on having any more babies.  My OB/GYN told me to check the strings monthly, which I did for awhile, and then I was like "eh, it'll be fine."  Imagine my shock when the "flu" I had turned out to be morning sickness.  The IUD had slipped down in my uterus and I was pregnant.  Thank God it slipped to a place where it was easily removed and we welcomed DS#2 in '10.  LOL.  It happens.

Re: Paragard people- check your strings regularly!!!!

  • Good to know!  I've had the paraguard for 5 years and I don't check it regularly.  I better because I don't plan on having kids!  Stick out tongue
  • Why am I hearing more and more stories like this - I have Paragard and I am starting to doubt the 99.5% effectiveness!
