Ok, enlighten me. Diva cup users come in

I've heard it but I've never seen one in IRL. I have lots of questions. (neeps, I saw your answer below in my post, so you can skip some of mine)How many cups do you use in a day? How many do you own? How do you clean it? Do you use a type of backup? Is it an insert or fits on the outside? Have you had any accidents with it? Any discomfort?

I've heard it but I've never seen one in IRL. I have lots of questions.

How many cups do you use in a day? Same cup, usually empty it once a day

How many do you own? Two, but only because I had to upgrade to the larger one when I got old and my hips expanded lol. You'd probably start with the large one since you've had a kid

How do you clean it? In the shower

Do you use a type of backup? Nope

Is it an insert or fits on the outside? Insert

Have you had any accidents with it? Only once because I needed the bigger one (poor fit, not overflowing - and you're welcome for that visual) I think you'll be surprised how few ounces AF actually produces. I know I was. It just seemed like it was an enormous amount when using tampons - I guess because you're constantly having to change/think about them through out the day.

Any discomfort? Nope can't even tell it's there.

  • 1. I use one cup a day.  I just dump it, rinse/wash, and reuse.  Unlike neeps I have to empty mine about 4-5 times a day on a heavy day.  I have never been able to go a full day emptying it only once.  But maybe I just have a heavy flow.

    2. I own one, but will probably be buying a new larger one now tha I've had a baby.

    3. During the day I wash it with soap and water unless I'm out somewhere in which case I'll wipe it down with toilet paper or carry a water bottle and rinse it out.  After my period is over I boil it to sterilize it.

    4. On a heavy day I will sometimes wear a pantyliner, but usually I don't feel the need for a backup, though I did the first couple cycles because I wasn't completely secure with it.

    5. It's an insert.

    6. No accidents yet, just a little leaking when I wasn't inserting it correctly the first cycle.  No discomfort.  I much prefer it to tampons or pads.  I've been wishing I could use it this whole time since Aurelia was born.  Pads stink!

    HTH!

ETA:  Btw, I own a mooncup, not a divacup.  Not sure if there's a difference.

  • OMG, its the best thing ever.  Makes my life so much easier!

I only have one cup and I empty it in the evening and again in the morning.  I tend to do this while in the shower. For daily cleaning I rinse it with soap and water and then boil at the end of the cycle.

I used a liner as backup at first, until I got used to it.

I have had no accidents and the only discomfort I had was in the beginning until I cut the stem off.

I have the Lunette cup that I ordered while here in Oz.  I really like not having to worry about changing tampons during the day. I can basically forget about my period all day.
