Re: AAA?

  • I don't have it, but H/IL's business is a AAA provider.

AAA totally rips off the tow/service businesses that help their customers. Ex: paying them $1.75 per mile traveled (when diesel fuel is pushing $4), only AFTER picking up the vehicle. Meaning they don't get paid for mileage on the way to the vehicle. Don't even get me started on what they pay the providers for the actual service.  And AAA users wonder why it takes so long for tow trucks to get to them - because no one wants to take the call because they aren't making any money.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a vent.

Anywho.... we have a free membership because they are a provider. When one of our personal vehicles needs a tow, we use AAA to make the claim so the business makes some money.

Overall, I think the membership is worthless.

  • We have it and I like having it. We have one of the higher priced packages which allows us to be towed from anywhere, to anywhere. We dont have a limit where they only tow within so many miles. Also, ours covers our car plus any car we are in. We've had to use it in the past and we've been happy with the service.

The only time I was unhappy was when I accidentally locked my keys in my car (I put my purse on the front seat to clear the snow off the car and my car locked automatically with my purse inside). The person who came to get my keys out called me a stupid fuccking *** and a c*nt. I called and complained and AAA was more than nice about it.

The thing that I like most about them is the discounts at various hotels and tourist locations, plus all of the free travel information. In this day and age, I guess you can just google. But I like having maps and tour books when we go places, so I think thats worthwhile at least for us.

    Ditto.

I have the AAA Plus and woule never go back to the regular one. I had a complete POS car back when I was in school and I couldn't even count how many times I needed to call them. We have also used it when we have been in someone else's car and that car broke down. IMO, the price is worth the piece of mind and even more-so now that we will have a LO.
