London Shows

We will be there the 3rd week of October. There are some shows below that I'm interested in, but I might be missing some good ones. Any info/recs are appreciated!

-Phantom (seen it many times but I love it)

-Les Miserables

Re: London Shows

  • Show up at 7PM and ask for their best deal on tickets.  You should be able to get fantastic seats at less than half price.  Les Mis and Thriller are very close to each other, so you can even compare offers.

Go see Les Mis anytime but Monday night or Wednesday day.  Alfie Boe is currently playing Valjean and HE IS AMAZING.  Here's Bring Him Home from the 25th anniversary of Les Mis sung by four Valjeans:  Alfie starts at 2:08.

We haven't seen Thriller because we've heard it's really disappointing, so no recommendations.

Driving Miss Daisy will be here for a limited engagement while you're here:  James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will be playing the leads.

Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert is a lot of fun and The 39 Steps is hilarious!  Blood Brothers is very British and very good.

It's such a shame that Love Never Dies closed last week.  We're huge phans and have seen POTO and LND several times each.  We actually went to the last LND performance on Saturday and it was the best ever...  Andrew Lloyd Webber was there, and that was very exciting.

The new Wizard of Oz is also very entertaining - and it's Lloyd Webber's version.  Perhaps you could catch that along with Wicked.

I wouldn't recommend The Lion King.  It's very expensive and kind of a snooze fest.  The costumes are interesting, though.  I wouldn't go back - even for free - until I had kids.

    Have fun!

  • Last time I was there I saw We Will Rock You and it was fantastic! Super entertaining and the actors/actresses were very talented! It's a show made up entirely of Queen songs. I'm kind of a band nerd who grew up listing to old rock though, so this was right up my alley ;-]
  • I saw Wicked when I was there - it was incredible!!!  Definitely one of my favorites!

  • I think Wicked is great -- no matter where you see it!

We saw Wizard of Oz in July and thought it was cute. Not great but good.

100% agree with this. Wicked is such a great show! Definitely a favorite of DH and I.

  • Oooh. We're going next week. Maybe I can talk DH into taking me to Wicked!
