Furniture stores in the San Jose area?

Hello everyone,

My husband and I just finished a long moving trip from Indiana to the Bay Area, and we are working on furnishing our new nest. Could anyone offer me advice on good furniture stores in the San Jose / South Bay area?

Many thanks,

Nina.

Re: Furniture stores in the San Jose area?

  • I don't live in the Bay Area anymore, but is there a Room & Board in the south bay?  If not, might be worth a trip to the city (SF) to take a look if you're into more contemporary styles.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • We bought bedroom furniture at Woodpecker's.  Service is terrible but we're very happy with the furniture.
  • There are a ton of furniture stores in this area.  A lot depends on your budget and the feel you are going for.  You can find furniture at Crate & Barrel (Santana Row), Ethan Allen (Oakridge Mall), or all those random places that seem to pop up that are in industrial areas (seriously, all over SJ! - San Tomas Expressway and El Camino have a lot of choices), or make the trip to Ikea in East Palo Alto.
  • Try Home Life Furnishings n Stevens Creek Boulevard. It looks cheesy from the outside, but they have a TON of stuff and some of it is really nice. We got our couch, entertainment center, bedroom set, and dining room table and chairs all from there. They're really nice people there too.
  • Also, welcome to CA and the Bay Area!
  • In addition to what the others have suggested, there's Scandinavian Designs. They have a showroom on Stevens Creek in Cupertino and an outlet not far from there on De Anza Blvd. It's like a small step up from Ikea. We got our sofa/LR chair and dining table there. We also just bought DD's big girl bed at Complete Home Furniture on Race St in San Jose. It's a random little dodgy looking hole in the wall, but their prices are amazing and we were very happy with the service and quality. You order everything from a catalog so they can keep their prices down by not requiring a showroom.

another vote for scandi designs !  they have an enormous showroom in concord if you want to make the trek up there (less than an hr) its worth it.
