Anyone use 7th Gen dishwasher soap?

I like the rest of their cleaning products but I'm nervous about the dishwasher soap since others I've tried didn't clean well.

Re: Anyone use 7th Gen dishwasher soap?

  • I've tried it and didn't like it at all. It didn't rinse off very well.

I've had good results with Ecover tablets and Martha Stewart's gel.

  • I tried it, and it wasn't the greatest.

I have hard water, so for me this works the best:

Soap: Trader Joes Automatic dishwashing detergent

I also add a few sprinkles of Lemishine in with the soap to help with the hard water.

    Rinse aid: Straight white vinegar

  • Yes, and I don't like it at all.  Not only does it not rinse off well (even with vinegar in the rinse aid) but a lot of times it doesn't even rinse out of the detergent compartment.  It just gets wet and clumps up in the compartment and makes a mess.  Definitely doesn't make me feel like my dishes are clean.

  • I've never had an issue.  I'm sure it partly depends on the condition of your water and what kind of dishwasher you have.
  • the powder?  don't like it at all....just like the others said, for me it didn't rinse and clumped all over.  And even now after using it over a year ago, sometimes my soap compartment doesn't open and i have to rewash all over again.  :(

  • In all honesty - I wouldn't use it. The time I have it hasn't seemed to clean like I wanted it to. However - the powder dishwasher soap was - ok.

Though I've found other "eco" dishwasher soaps that were a lot better.

I think one brand is Ecoclean so something along those lines.

  • I've been using the liquid one for years and never had an issue with it.  even when I dont add vinegar to the load.  Never tried the powder though.

This is what it did for us too.  We use BioKleen powder now, which works great.  It seems to be that different EF detergents work better in different washers.  Unfortunately I think you're just going to have to try a couple until you find one that works.  That's what we had to do.

  • I use the liquid and have not had a problem with it. Actually, I'm half way thru my first bottle of it and it seems to be doing the job.
  • The only dishwater soup I use is Dawn.  I don't trust anything else!  But then again, I'm a germaphobe...

  • We use the method tablets and love them!
  • I've yet to find a "green" dishwasher tablet that I liked. They always seem to put a film on my dishes or leave actual chunks of detergent on them.
