Migraine meds??

Are there any meds approved for migraines while pregnant? After talking to my OB this past week, what put me in ER three weeks ago is believed to be a hormonal migraine. It was relieved by one single Vicodin. I had one start again this am, tried tylenol with no relief. I took at vicodin (per her okay) at 5pm and its slowly getting worse.

I was just wondering if there was anything over the counter that I could go get. I'm drinking a Dr Pepper right now since I haven't had caffeine for a few days in which has become my normal since being pregnant.

Re: Migraine meds??

  • I NEVER had migraines until I got pregnant. They started hitting at about week 9 and I still get one at least 3-4 times a week. Tylenol did nothing for me and nothing else was approved over the counter for me. Talk to you Dr. and let them know that Tylenol isn't doing anything. Your Dr might be able to give you prescription meds. My dr. gave me generic Firoicet and they work great! Good luck!

  • I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but we sell this product at the spa called Blue Oil, it's made by Aveda and it's blue oil in a little roll on type bottle, really small, but people come in there and buy it all the time and Swear by it for headaches/migraines.

It's supposed to be a 'tension reliever' but they say as soon as they feel a headache coming on, they use it and it works. Even one of the hair stylist husbands uses it religiously...IDK, could all be in their "heads", but they think it works and I'm tempted to try it!  :)

They use it on male customers while shampooing/massaging their scalps and I think the massage therapists use it as well.
