Question for moms of more than 1

Two of my BFFs are having their #'2's soon (both boys, both already have 1 boy, both under 2 y.o.). I'd like to get them baby gifts, but not sure what you need for baby boy #2?

Any suggestions as to what was really helpful/appreciated/liked by you?

Re: Question for moms of more than 1

  • I obviously don't have more than 1, but my SIL just had her second and I had this conversation with her.

Ideas she gave me were all practical things.

Bibs, they get gross so she started from scratch.

Socks, they get lost, same deal.

Diapers/wipes.  You can never have too many.

If they don't already have them, aden and anais receiving/swaddle blankets are a great upgrade over regular receiving blankets.  http://www.adenandanais.com/shop/swaddles.aspx

You can get them at Buy Buy Baby.   They are amazing, I still use Emma's.  And they are a bit $$, so a great gift.

  • A friend of mine just had her second boy, and I got her a "name train" and a one-piece outfit. Name trains are the gift I get everyone when they have a kid...everyone loves them. My friend also liked the onesies b/c a lot of the day-to-day baby outfits were worn and pilly/stained so she appreciated new ones.

Here are the name trains, but they're sold in a lot of stores in center city and online.

I personally love this onesie set:

  • Great ideas so far, thanks!

  • I don't post much, but agree on with diapers and wipes. Those will also be a great gift. You might want to find out if your friend has a preference in those because some people can be really picky with their diapers and wipes.

Also, Aden and Anais swaddles are AWESOME! I used them with my 2nd and now give them as gifts to anyone who is having or had a baby. You can also get a slightly cheaper version of them at Target. Same brand but they are slightly smaller and significantly cheaper especially when Target has them on sale for 24 for a pack of 4. Amazon has them, too.

  • I'm about to have boy #2, and under 2! I wouldn't mind a new outfit for LO.

I second the swaddle blankets. We didn't have any for Drew and it's one of the things I've picked up this time.

If you know whether or not the kids are sharing a room or not another one of those sound machines.

Honestly I'd love if someone acknowledged DS#1 when I have baby boy #2 with some sort of time consuming gift. (Color Wonder markers and pages are a big hit right now and I don't have to "monitor" him too closely because they only color on those pages and he doesn't need my help) Like a basket of crafts that don't need my close watching. I'll try to look up a list for you.

No joke. It will stretch from his room to ours!

Okay so these things I *think* would keep DS occupied for a bit or with little or no involvement from me:

Sticker books- I would try to find either some at the $ store with the biggest sized stickers

Flap books- Where the kiddo lifts the flap, DS loves these and will sit for about a whopping 10 minutes with them... - http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3924481

Stamps- either really big foam ones (pretty cheap), or ones like these: DS has these and will sit and stamp for a few minutes

Also foam sticker thingys- not sure what to describe them as but they are thin foam and you can peel the back to stick them on paper. DS loves these too.

Paper- construction paper lol for all of these coloring and sticky things

CDs?- we "jam" to the Laurie Berkner Band

and that color wonder papers/markers by Crayola is great too.

I might be able to think of more but Bug just woke up!
