Re: Favorite Summer Activity... just for participation

  • I voted lounging on the beach, since I basically live for our beach trip every summer.  This time next year, we'll be living 20 minutes from the beach and I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
  • I voted for "something else" since during the summer I try to do anything and everything I can outdoors. This year we've done a few fairs, dinners outside, swimming, and yesterday went to an MLB game.

  • I love BBQs! Just getting everyone together and hanging out is nice. We play some bags, drink some beer, good times.

I'm also really loving being on the motorcycle. So, that's a close second.

    PAL/PGAL Welcome!
  • I picked "other" because I love our family beach trip. But I am not really one to lounge around much on the beach. :) I like to swim if I can. I do love reading on the beach but under an umbrella haha, because I get nervous laying out in the sun. :)

We just rented a beach house a coupla weeks ago, and it was so nice. We could go back to the house to eat and grill out, then spend a couple of hours running after the kids and swimming on the beach.

Scarlett, what is this???  I've never heard of it!

I said BBQ... not necessarily BBQs with lots of people, but I just love the grilled food.  And, we just got a new grill, so I'm loving it even more!

  • jnc- I'm pretty jealous that I don't live closer to a beach. I live about an hour and a half away from the lake area to go cliffjumping and what not... but I'm no where near the ocean :/

Sounds like your summers are much more interesting than mine! I went "rough" camping for a weekend and that was the closest to adventurous I got.

We currently live 10 minutes from one of our states largest lakes/recreation areas.  I could go sit on the beach at the lake every day if I wanted, but for some reason, all I want is the ocean!  Right now, we're about two and a half hours from the beach, so 20 minutes will be glorious!

We don't have any cliffjumping nearby though so I have to say I am super jealous...although I am also a huge wuss, so I'm not sure I'd do it.  I've been off the highdive at a community pool a couple times and I think that was enough excitement for me!  lol.

  • beach is still so much cooler than cliffjumping... it's about a 15 minute hike from parking to get to the cliffs and it can get pretty busy out there, but the highest jump is about 40 feet... that one kinda hurts, but it's still fun to at least try... I've never been off of a high dive and I'm deathly afraid of the really high slides at waterparks.. so I'd say I'm the wuss!

  • I said swimming.  Interestingly, here the summer is not the best time for the beach.  Our really hot weather kicks in a little later (September/October), and the beaches tend to be foggy in the summer.  Off of the coast though there are plenty of activities and warm weather.  This summer some highlights were the 4th of July BBQ at our friends' place, the Midsummer Festival (big Swedish holiday), and canoeing on Russian River.  Both Midsummer and canoeing involve swimming.

Can I come celebrate all the festivities with you? We don't have anything like that out here in this oven!
