Tattoo - Family Tattoos

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo to represent both my kids. I was wondering if there's any moms out there who have tattoos that are for their families.

I would love to see pictures or read some ideas :)

Re: Tattoo - Family Tattoos

  • Why not a first initial tattoo for each?

Try henna first -- see if you like it; then go for the real thing.:)
  • I have a friend with two boys.  She had one's name tattooed on her left wrist and the other on her right wrist.
IUI - BFP! Baby boy born still - August 2012
    IVF - BFP - miscarriage June 2013
    FET - BFN
    FET - BFN
    Switched clinics
IVF with PGD - three embryos created, all healthy - July 2014
FET - transferred two embryos (boy and girl) - Nov 2014 - BFP!
    Baby Boy born July 2015

  • My friend did this with his daughter. It's huge and it's her full first and middle name. Very long. Nice, but excessive. I like the initial idea or something like that.
  • I saw a guy once that had a picture of the baby's footprints tattooed onto his calf.    You have the tattoo artist strace over an ink print of your baby's foot.  The kids names were below each footprint.  I thought that was a neat idea.

  • Personally, I would never put a name on me. Whether it's my own child or not. But hey, to each their own! If it were me I would think of some kind of symbol to represent each person in your family. I've heard of people getting stars or flowers etc and putting one symbols for each member of the family.
  • One of my friends has her children's names in a circle around her ankle. It's nice because the script is small and looks like scrollwork unless you are really close.

  • My SIL has my niece's name and footprints on her forearm. Her H has each of his daughter's names and a flower on each arm.

  • Somehow inter-twining their first initials could be cute.

There is also a tattoo that reads one word if you look at it one way, and another word if you look at it upside down (forget what it's called!) My friend has one and it's really cool!

  • My friend's mom has a crescent moon on her hip, surrounded by three stars for her three kids. Each star is the color of one of their birthstones. I thought it was a sweet idea!

  • I had seen one a woman had on her stomach/hip area - it was vines and butterflies, 4 of them, one for each of her kids.  One butterfly was a bit bigger and apart from the others because one child had died.

I want a tattoo and am thinking of something for my kids, possibly their initials.

    Anniversary

They're called Ambigram and the guy who does them is Mark Palmer

  • My plan is actually to symbolize my family with wolf paws or something like that.  I'm torn between picking a tattoo that represents their personality, or just using wolf paws or flowers....

I personally wouldn't get a name tattooed on me.

  • One of my friend has a tattoo. She inked herself around two years ago. She calligraphed both her daughters name on her chest. I really like her tattoo. However, I would like to tell you that, once done, it is going to be pretty expensive to remove that. So first check it out with henna as iloveredvino has mentioned.
