visiting Geneva-on-the-Lake

Hi, my H and I are visiting Geneva-on-the-Lake in early September to celebrate our anniversary.  We're staying at The Lakehouse Inn B&B.  Has anyone stayed here or have any suggestions on where to visit while in town?  We're bringing our bikes and we love wineries.  I plan to visit South River Winery (just b/c of the location) and Ferrante (maybe for dinner one night).  Is there anything in Genva OTL left to see?  When I've looked online it mentions "the Strip."  I have no idea what is here or what it is.  I'm hoping little shops.  Is there anything you would recommend or can you tell me a little about the area?  I'm from Northern KY and no one we know has been there.  I thought I'd try out the Cleveland board for some help.

TIA!!!

Re: visiting Geneva-on-the-Lake

  • i would highly suggest visiting a local winery if you're into that! i have only been there once but i had a good time. the strip appears to be shops, food, and what my husband refers to "all the things you'd expect on a boardwalk". it was a little kitschy to me but i did enjoy myself :)
  • The firehouse winery is right on the strip. The food is just mediocre but the wine is good and they have a ferris wheel right on the lake, try to stop by around sunset b/c it's a beautiful view. The strip is right out of the 50s, think mini golf, arcades, and ice cream shops. At night there are some bars with live music. Hope that helps :)

  • You should visit Firehouse Winery at sunset, very beautiful and romantic!  On Saturdays they have some live music at the bars and wineries on the strip, def worth a visit.
