PAL/PGAL Welcome!

Re: Happy Friday!

  • I'm finishing up another purse tonight and working on some more fabric blocks for mine and my sister's Etsy shop. I'm hoping to finally have my first listing on it up next week (she has her own stuff posted, but I haven't really finished anything yet).

Rant: I'm frustrated with work. We have a policy when it comes to being trady/absent. What it boils down to is if you come in late, leave early or take a day off, if it's unscheduled, you get an occurence (or half for being late/leaving early). You get a certain number of these before you get a warning. Since there's a buffer, I think that regardless of the reason you're late or leaving early (obviously, some exceptions for really extenuating circumstances), you should get half an occurence unless it was pre-approved.

There's been a trend going on lately where my boss is questioning if people should be getting occurences because of the reason they are late. Sorry, but I really don't think that a traffic light being out is reason enough. If there was an accident on someone's way to work, they'd still get half an occurence. Why make an exception? When you make an exception like that, they're going to abuse the system and tell you that a traffic light was out, or something of the sort, every time they are late.

Rave: I'm 1.5 lbs away from my 5% weight loss goal! I hope that when I weight in next Tuesday, I'll have reached it. I'm working out, eating awesome and feeling great!

I confess that I'm really worried about keeping focused on being healthy. I've been eating under my points for the past week, not by a lot, but still. I'm kind of afraid that I'm going to keep going in that direction and drastically reduce the amount of food that I'm eating. There was a point in time where I was eating around 500 calories a day and working out two times a day. I've been trying to skip dinner all week, which is not like me. DH has been cooking dinner and making me a plate, which is good, I guess. But I'm hoping that since I'm aware of what I'm doing, I won't fall back into old habits.

I'm looking forward to all the festivals I'm planning on going to, starting with the blues fest next weekend. It's on the river and is so much fun. Buddy Guy is headlining.

    PAL/PGAL Welcome!
  • Doing this weekend? Tonight Dinner and a Movie. We finally seeing the Hangover 2  I'm excited for a little dumb fun.

    Any rants/raves? Confessions?

Rave - I really hope I can get my director to hire my Friend on Monday. It would make life here SOOO much better to have a cohort I love.  Plus the bonus is she really needs a job.

Rant - Very tired of working long hours every week. I hate this business sometimes. I don't see it getting any better at any other firm I go to.

Rant 2 - DH is extremely distant since we agreed to start trying. He is really terrified and it is getting to me. I'm kind of at my wits end and it's making me feel pretty undesirable.  I hate having to instigate every single contact between us. I'll talk to him more about it tonight.

What is something you're looking forward to over the summer?

I cannot wait to go camping. I'm hoping there is not a state govt shutdown, because we have reservations at a few of the state parks this summer. That would be a  bummer. Also the big Back to the 50s show is next weekend. I cannot wait. bought a new dress and the '59 corvette is all pieced back together and ready to go!

  • That is quite a car! We have a 1958 Ford Fairlane that DH is rebuilding. The exterior and drive train have been completed, now it's on to the interior.

Big hugs to you, darlin! I know that when DH and I began to talk about it and I started to watch my ovulation schedule, he seemed REALLY bugged out that I was initiating sex based on the timing of things. I want to do it more often than that, so I've made an effort to have more crazy spontaneous sex than timed sex...the outweighing of that has put him more at ease that we're not merely doing it for the purpose of getting pregnant. I have to remind him also, that we.will.be.okay. The timing of things is not up to us - whether we are on a budget or tight on money will never make a difference as to when it's time for us to be parents. I hope things become less stressful for you - that kind of anxiety can really put a damper on things, I'm sure!

  • I'll be picking up a friend/client from the airport in about 2 hours and we'll be spending the day hanging out and running errands together. Tomorrow I'll be shooting their engagement session and then we'll be enjoying some fantastic Kansas City barbeque at Jack Stack - my favorite! Sunday they'll be heading home and DH and I will more than likely lay by the pool, weather permitting. :)

  • Thanks Friendlyturner. I needed to hear that. Where is Jack Stacks? I lived in KC for a while right on the plaza.

Prudy Fairlane!  When I go to this big show I like to think that I am shopping for our next car.  I'm pretty partial to T-birds myself, but there are always about 100 cars I'd take in a hearbeat.

  • rant: DH forgot to take out the trash so when I had a craving for chocolate milk at midnight... I was startled by maggots all over our downstairs floor!!!! I freaked out and I was mortified, embarrassed, and grossed out! Bug guy is coming on Tuesday thank goodness and I made DH sweep and mop last night so I could get to the dishes without fearing creepy crawlies getting onto me. My back is having a much harder time with work... I don't think I can take it much longer to be honest :/ SOmehow my cat got locked in the garage last night and I felt so sorry for my little baby when I found her scared this morning :(

rave: I'm getting a miniscule tan! (I hardly tan at all, so every little bit I count as success).. I switched OBs (it's a good thing), I only have a month left of work, I'll be 21 in 10 days!!!

    Here's my weekend:

Saturday- appointment with State Farm insurance to switch to DH's car insurance. Clean the house. Possible help my brother move into his new apartment... get painting supplies for the nursery.

Sunday- try a new church with my parents. Begin painting the nursery!! Woot Woot!!

    Monday- relax... complete day off

Tuesday- Bug Guy is coming!!!!! Amen to that one

  • Rant: Everything about my job today.  Oh, and I'm working through the weekend...so next Saturday is my next day off :(

Rave: I just spent too much money on Amazon.  Oh well, no shame.  I got four books for under $30.  Money well spent, and I couldn't do that at a bookstore.  Also I'm watching Bruins hockey.  Yay!

  • Hope everyone's week went well! What is everyone planning on doing this weekend?  Tomorrow I'm riding with bro/sil/niece to my aunt's wedding a couple hours away.  It's her second marriage, to a guy she's know since they were kids, and my mom says she's just giddy because he treats her so well.  He even asked her grown kids for permission to marry her... they got engaged on Mothers' Day, and I'm super happy for her.  Sunday, I'm going to church (I found one that I love love love - I look forward to it all week!) and then going shopping after church with my sis.  I've lost 5 pounds, so I will be able to stay in my same size - instead of going up a size like I needed to a month ago!

Any rants?  DH is still gone.

Raves? DH heard a rumor at work that he'll be able to come home mid-next-week... and I'm trying not to keep my hopes up because the job is so unpredictable, but that's hard to do - I miss him!  Tomorrow makes 3 weeks that he's been gone.

Confessions?  I have been in charge of certain house things while DH has been gone, including the pool.  I have not been doing a very good job - I have done everything wrong that you're not supposed to do.  So far, it's been okay, and hasn't broken or died, but I had a real scare the other day and was on the phone with my dad at 11pm trying to figure it out.  Turned out to be an easy fix, but still.  And you can bet I'm not telling DH how bad of a job I'm doing!  But hey, at least it's pretty and clean still, right?

What is something you're looking forward to over the summer?  Working less than I did last summer - aka, hopefully no weekends!  Since I have this new job, it still seems promising, so hopefully it continues that way.  And DH coming home so that I can spend all this newfound time with him!

  • What is everyone planning on doing this weekend?  We're having the county fair here!  I'm looking forward to seeing some goats!

Any rants/raves?  Rave:  I've booked most of our trip to Peru in October!  I'm really excited about that.  Rant:  I'm still cleaning my parents' house out.  Ugh.

What is something you're looking forward to over the summer?  Next week is the Swedish Midsummer celebration.  They will have a Maypole, swimming, and lots of eating.

  • Rant: I want to quite my day job. So badly. I am so tired. I am working two jobs really. Have I mentioned I am tired? Like delirious?

Rave: Well I've worked all weekend. Not sure what to rave about. Okay I'll stop being Debbie Downer and say that I am loving teaching Creighton. It's just a huge learning curve, and I look forward to the day that it's second nature! And I can quite my job. Yeah that about sums it up, lol. Oh and Dh is now wanting to TTC for real... woohoo! :)

I  love the idea of keeping things spontaneous while also keeping an eye on the ovulation schedule! I think TTC can do a lot to a marriage psychologically... it can be tough, and even guys can start to feel more like "baby machines" than lovers (happens to us ladies too... I remember in my dating days wondering if some men just wanted to find a uterus!). My dh is finally really excited but it took a few months to warm up.

Yay!!!  That's so exciting.  I held a couple babies at my aunt's wedding this weekend, and it really fueled the fire for me.  Like, bigtime.
