Not like it was super hard to beat my time from January, but this is my post-college PR, so I'm pretty happy about it. It was pretty much an out and back, with the wind at our backs on the out. The last mile was straight into sustained 20mph wind. I'm surprised I did as well as I did.
I don't have any good race day stories...I went alone since it was here in my town. It was a benefit race to bring awareness and raise money for bacterial meningitis after a local girl died from it a few years ago. They use the money raised to offer free vaccinations to anyone who shows up on May 10...guess where I'll be taking my girls that day? SUCH a great cause. After the race, we had Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits...does that make me a chicken nugget runner?
It felt good until the last half-mile or so. I just couldn't *go*. I was breathing okay and my legs were not heavy...I just couldn't get moving! I'll blame the wind, I guess. I was 6th in my age group (speedy girls like Kate out today here!) and 116th overall (out of about 2000 runners/walkers).
Congrats to everyone who raced today!!!
