Are there just a lot of jobs in Germany for Americans?

There are so many of you that live there or the Netherlands.  Are they government jobs?

What a beautiful place to live!

  • I wish I lived in the beautiful part of Germany.

It's funny, my H's company wasn't sending Americans to Germany for the longest time. (Well, at least the section he works in) We had to fight so hard for it and we made such a  fuss. When we found out we were moving, about a week or two later someone higher up made a decision that they should send more Americans to Germany. When we were first here we were pretty much the only Americans (with his company, I'm sure there are others living in the area but I haven't met them). Now there are several American families.

  • I'm in NL and it's because of my Dutch husband and not job related. :)

  • My DH and I are both Americans, and we were transferred over here for my DH's job, with an American company.

No sweat, but I bet you were thinking I was a moron!

Is Germany just a cheaper place to employ people? Or is it because it is a good location? It's the beer, isn't it?

I think it's because Germany is a gigantic/central hub in Europe and because they have a lot of US military as well as international companies.
