Help me decide on a pair of flats.

Ok, so you girls talked me out of the TB flats yesterday. One of you suggested these Vera Wang flats and it has a ton of positive reviews. So there's one option.

Another person suggested the studded J Crew flats but I want something less "edgy" so I found these, which according to the description, are comfortable but I have no actual reviews to go by.

I bought these from Clarks this past Sunday (yeah, I know, not the most fashionable but comfort is my first priority since I do alot of standing/walking at work) because they are supposedly comfortable. I wore them to work for the first time yesterday and guess what, I got a big a$$ blister on my pinky toe. Granted, my actual feet did not hurt, aside from the blister. I'm thinking I need to break them in first, especially since they are made out of leather, but I'm not sure. Contemplating on returning them.

So which should I choose? Expensive Vera Wang w/ great reviews,  inexpensive J Crew with no reviews to go by or keep the ugly shoes and hope that they just need to be broken in?

(side note, Nordstroms does not have my size in the store so I'll have to order online if I choose the Vera Wang flats).

Re: Help me decide on a pair of flats.

  • With something like a basic ballet flat that will not go out of style, I'd spend the extra money and get the Vera Wangs.
  • I returned the J crew flats in Navy because of No arch support.  I would invest in the Vera Wangs.
  • I have 14 pairs of J. Crew ballet flats and they are all super comfortable.  There's not much to the sole though, so I'm not sure about standing on them all day.

I prefer the Vera Wang flats to the J. Crew ones you posted, and I'm all about paying a bit more for quality and comfort, but I'm also sure you can find comfortable black flats for less than $200.   I'd look around a bit more.

Clarks will take back a pair of shoes already worn?

  • Let me add one more suggestion.  I have the Me Too Legend.  They are black patent with a silver buckle and can be found here

    http://www.zappos.com/me-too-legend-pewter

They are by far the most comfortable pair of shoes in my closet.  I bought them almost two years ago and would guess that I wear them at least four times a week and they still look brand new.

  • Why were you talked out of TB flats? I have the Eddie, which looks very similar to the Vera Wang, and they are the most comfortable shoes ever. Seriously like walking on air.
  • Based on the look of all of the shoes, I like the Vera Wang flats the best.
  • For some reason, Clarks give me blisters as well.  I try to stay away from them.  I have several pairs of Me Too flats and a pair of wedges.  All of them are super comfy.  I really like the loafer /driving moc style.  I don't have any experiences with the Vera Wang or Jcrew so I can't comment on those.
  • I love my TB Romy flats but for comfort I prefer Me Too and ECCO, they have more support and cushioning.
  • I like the J Crew ones better than the Vera Wang, but I am not a fan of the scrunchy flats look.
  • Have you tried TB Eddies? I agree that TB Revas are not very comfortable, but I love the Eddie.
  • I vote for the VW Lillian flats. They have the tiniest hidden wedge in the heel and it's just enough to make them SO much more comfortable than flat flats.

I adore mine. So comfortable. I can easily teach in them all day then wear them out at night.

  • I definitely like the look of the Vera Wangs the best, but that is quite a bit to pay for a plain flat.

The JCrew ones are cute but look uncomfortable.

Glad the Clarks are going back.

I don't care for the buckle on the Me Toos that PP posted.

I really like the Me Too Lilyana and the reviews are great.

If you want something plain, how about the Cole Haan Air Bacara Ballet?

I *think* I've decided on these. Positive reviews and a great price, can't go wrong there!

  • Great.  I'm glad I could help.  Me Too offers others as well if you don't care for the buckle like PP mentioned.
  • i was also going to suggest cole haan, because they are some of THE most comfortable shoes ever for people who are on their feet a lot.  they are one of the only brands i will spend that kind of money on for a simple flat.
