Help! cleaning walls...kid level and down

We're moving into a new house; they had kids. In an effort to avoid re-painting every room & hallway, is there a good product to use on walls for kid's handprints, crayon, general grime, some scuffs, etc?

Re: Help! cleaning walls...kid level and down

  • Water, rag, and mild cleanser. GL.
  • Dishsoapy water and a rag or a well wrung out mop if you want to hit the whole wall.

That will work on most paint.

if it's flat paint though you're pretty much SOL unless it's the washable kind.

  • Mr. Clean Magic Erasers may get off some of that list??
  • You can get crayon off by spraying the mark with hairspray and wiping off. For everything else, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works wonders.
  • Be VERY careful with the magic eraser, it WILL take the sheen off and it'll look funky when the light hits it.

ditto this. Our walls look awesome right now because DD2 took a crayon to both the downstairs and the upstairs hallways and the only way were were able to remove the crayon marks was with the magic eraser Tongue Tied ::::sigh:::: Next time, I'll have to try the hairspray trick pp mentioned.

Otherwise, for everything other then crayon, a rag dampened with soapy warm water works great. I often use baby wipes too...but we have a lot of those lying around ;)
