Good Morning ...

What's going on today?

QOTD:  Create your own and answer it yourself or pose it others.

Re: Good Morning ...

  • Since I'm still trying to get my residency messiness straightened out, I'm without a drivers licence and without a car.  DH has been bringing me to work.  This morning he was low and gas, so we left out early.  He dropped me off this morning at 6:54 AM. :(  It's going to be a long day. :)  I'm afraid if I close me door to take a nap people walking by will hear me snoring. LOL  It's still going to be an awesome day.  We took DS to nursery this morning and he jumps out the car and skips into the building.  This is a first usually he's a little clingy and sometimes there are tears, but not today. :)
  • Good morning! Planning on a productive and quick day :-P Since we had a training last night that ran late, I am skipping out early today to balance out my hours! (I am hourly for now...hoping that will change in March!)

Other than that, no plans than making dinner and relaxing :-)

QOTD: I didn't answer the separate post yesterday about how I found the IN Board, so I'll answer that question! I was on the knot for wedding planning, and always lurked on the Nest. I lurked on IN because I thought it would be cool to be an ex-pat (I was right, lol!).

Anyway, when we found out we were moving, I decided to post and see if there was anyone else in Qatar. As luck would have there was! And I love the girls on this board, so I stuck around. They were so helpful while we were transitioning, and now I am just lucky to have you ladies :-P

  • Morning, work and hopefully the gym.  I've been so busy lately, I haven't been going as much.  Yesterday I worked 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and haven't been able to nest either :-(.

QOTD: I'm going to follow Jenny's choice as I didn't answer yesterday's IN questions either.  I did the Knot for a while, but we weren't doing a traditional wedding and I broke a lot of their 'must dos'.  I wasn't a very active poster and tried to stay away from the site.  I WISH I had learned about the nest, especially our board prior to moving.  It would have helped a lot.  I had a hard adjustment period, I discovered it when we'd lived here for nearly two years already. But I'm glad I found you and sorry I had to miss Friday's London GTG.  Hope everyone had fun, I just couldn't get there and back across town for my training at 7:00 p.m.

  • Morning. I've been working from home for the past hour, but will head in to work in a few minutes. Today will be a busy day at work, and then relaxing tonight. H and I went to yoga last night and loved it. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. GBP15/class. That's 30 pounds a night for both of us. We might just do one class a week, and do one night where we do it from home.

QOTD: This is for others. Do you have any meditating tips? Granted, I've only tried it a couple of times, but I have trouble focusing on breathing and clearing my mind. I might do it for about 15 seconds before I start thinking about other things. I'm hoping I'll get better at it the more I do it.

  • Morning lovelies.

I am currently sitting at a coffee shop in Tel Aviv trying to work on web content for this campaign.  As you can see it isn't going well...I'm boring myself!  I came here to get inspired, but can't stop drinking coffee and eating muffins long enough to actually work!

Rest of the day is much of the same--meeting at work, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, intently watching the news for any updates via our southern neighbor.

QOTD: Hmmm...Again I am uninspired to come up with something original.  ARGH!

  • Morning! I'm a spaz this morning, everything is going wrong!! Blah! Today it's work, work and home I'm going to go for a run. I'm also going to try and get the guest room sorted out for our guests this weekend, at the moment it's full of baby stuf and clothes that I don't fit at the moment!

  • Good morning. I a dead tired today. The boy came over last night and didn't go home until about 2 (he would normally stay but he had to be home to get a package this morning).

Funny story (maybe tmi): Boy and I were...um...canoodling last night and I got an extremely painful leg cramp (I had run earlier in the night and I never stretch properly), and I spazzed out and was like ow, ouch stop! To which he promptly freaked out, jumped about 6 feet away from the bed and was like, oh god sorry what did I do? Awwwwkward.

So ya, I'll have to stretch more.

I'm far too lazy to think up my own QOTD.

  • Morning!  I feel all weird and coughy today.  Glad I don't have to go out and walk the dog as it is cold and blowing today.

QOTD: In the eventuality of moving back to your home country, do you think you'll feel as you did before or will everything be different?

I think it will be different.  Our eyes are too opened to other things and other ways.

  • Morning ladies!  I'm in the UK, so I'm pretty MIA this week.  I'm just working and hanging out, so nothing major.

QOTD:  In the eventuality of moving back to your home country, do you think you'll feel as you did before or will everything be different?

I'm not sure what things will be like once we move back.  I'm not even sure WHEN we'll move back, but I'm pretty sure it'll be different.

  • Morning all.  Nothing overly exciting in our house today.  I have a pork roast cooking in the slowcooker, so looking forward to coming home to some yummy dinner tonight!  Otherwise we're just sorting out details - trying to book driving lessons for me, book our last hotel in Australia, figure out summer holiday plans, etc.

I think things will be different as well.  I think every experience you go through changes you in at least some small way.  And this is waayyy too big a part of our lives to not have any impact.  Like you said, our eyes are open to so much now, and we've had to adapt and grow.

  • Morning!

My job interview yesterday was really cool! I hope to get a positive answer by the end of next week. I would take a boat to get to work each day and my office would look out onto the sea!!!

Also just found out that H will go to Dubai in May, if I'm not working then, M and I will tag along, so I'll be in touch with you ME ladies, hopefully we could do a GTG!

QOTD from Snippy: It is different, we moved back to Canada for 9 months in 2004, it was so weird, we pretty much started the moving back to Vietnam process right away!

Today is work and dinner with risa.  Guess I should get some groceries too while we're there.  I've been slacking on the diet with FH around - eating out for lunch (and three courses!) and dinner, etc.... so I don't have much food in the house.

Yay!!  Hopefully you can come and I will be here (will be in NY for the beginning of May)!

QOTD from Snippy:  I don't know.  In the other times I've lived abroad at first it is weird but slowly you get used to it again.  Granted, this is the longest I've lived overseas... but I think that life starts to go back to what it was in most ways, but just a little part of you will see things differently.

Maybe this time will be different - especially if I make the jump from Dubai to Turkmenistan to who knows where after that (we met someone who knows both oil and gas lawyers and development workers in India last night - so something for FH and me!).

  • I'd like to hear what people have to say about good meditation practices.  When I close my eyes and clear my mind and focus on my breathing, I am asleep soon thereafter.  So no tips from me. :)

I think it will be really different when we do eventually move back to the States.  Just like it was difficult getting adjusted to living abroad when you first made the leap, I think there will be certain aspects that will be harder for me to adjust to even though I grew up with those very same aspects.   Driving will be different, schooling will be different, doctors will be different, hummus will be different, falafals will be different, people will be different.  I almost think it will be a little boring and bland.  Maybe the repatriatazation (sp) will be some thing best saved for retirment years when I don't need or want that much excitement?

  • I'm way too wound up to meditate. lol :)
  • Good morning! Snowed last night (what else is new?) but thankfully not too much.  DH is off to "meetings" today--hopefully his last :)

QOTD: In the eventuality of moving back to your home country, do you think you'll feel as you did before or will everything be different?

It is different being back.  A lot of what is different is that everything is the same.  Friends and family are doing the same boring stuff and saying the same ignorant things.

We definitely appreciate the easy of things in the US.  Setting up a cell phone was so easy!  Unfortunately I'm still harboring negative feelings towards processed foods, healthcare, and consumerism (to name a few) and that has caused me some angst.  It's definitely an adjustment.

  • Good morning...back at work.

Meditation - it takes practice...I like to use a good visualization to keep my mind focused and deep breathing.  I visualize the air changing colour in my body or walking around a house and looking at details.  Sometimes I'll use a candle and look at the flame.  But I also sometimes move to outside thoughts...as soon as I catch myself I stop and go back to meditation.  Seriously - it just takes a lot of time to get good at it.  Music in the background helps me.
