New Year Roll Call

Re: New Year Roll Call

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Happy Ever After - Nora Roberts

What will be your first book in 2011? Hell's Corner - David Baldacci

What's your goal for 2011? Not sure, I said 50 last year and then stopped keeping track (the ultimate of laziness, but tue)

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I never get through them, but I do also peruse them to see if that is the one or to come up with a personal challenge

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? - The Black Tulip by Alexandre Dumas

What will be your first book in 2011? - I'm testing out my new kindle with Whisker of Evil by Rita Mae Brown (The version of The Black Tulip on the kindle was not the same translation as the paper copy I was reading so I wanted to finish it all in the same translation.)

What's your goal for 2011? - my goal is always 4 books a month, so 48 books total.  Last year I made 35.  I never feel bad if I don't make the total, it's just a goal to strive toward.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? - I'm still working on finishing the 2010 Spring Book Challenge.  I doubt I'll do another one.  I just cant read fast enough and I and up feeling like a personal failure.

I don't mind being held to a higher standard; I mind being held to a lower one. (Sam Seaborn, The West Wing)

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010?  While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky

What will be your first book in 2011? Landing by Emma Donoghue

What's your goal for 2011? I'd like to read 75 books this year.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?  The only one I might do is the Summer Book Challenge.  Its too hard during the school year to participate in the other ones.

  • *Excuse my lack of spaces, I'm posting from my iPad!* The last book I finished in 2010 was a comic book trade paperback called American Vampire-it was great! I'm in the middle of Franzen's Freedom, so that will be my first book of 2011. I'm aiming for 75 books in 2011. I fell short of my 2010 goal for a couple reasons-I'm home with my active toddler all day, and he doesn't nap anymore! I also work at night, and midway through the year I switched positions in my company to a job that doesn't allow me to read at work any more-which really stinks! These two factors really contributed to a big hit in my reading time : (

    What's your goal for 2011? 111 in '11!

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I will be challenging myself to read 111 books this year.  I have failed at all other challenges I have done, so that's it!

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? The Christmas Chronicles by Jeff Guinn

What will be your first book in 2011? I am finishing up Chasing the Night by Iris Johansen.  I'm not sure what I'll read next.

What's your goal for 2011? I think I'm going to go with the 111 goal.  It's a few more than last year & this year, but not quite as ambitious as 125.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? Just the 111.  I might do one of the quarterly challenges, but lately I've been focused on getting through some series, and working through my TBR list in general.

What will be your first book in 2011? People of the Book

What's your goal for 2011? I'm going to try for the 111

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Dead and Gone

What will be your first book in 2011? Well, I'm halfway through Honalulu, but I don't feel like it should count as my first "official" book of 2011 since I'm already so far into it. Not sure what my first book will be yet.

What's your goal for 2011? I would love to see if I could beat last years goal of 50 books but with out LO about to arrive in February I really don't think it'll be possible. I'm aiming for 25 this year, any more than that would be a welcome bonus.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? As of right now, no.

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Uglies by Scott Westerman

What will be your first book in 2011? City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and Bedeviled #2 by Shani Petroff.

What's your goal for 2011? My goal is 50 books for 2011.  I didn't start posting on here until a couple months ago, so I didn't officially have a 2010 goal.  I lost a couple reading months this past year due to health issues, so I'm hoping to get more reading done this year.  I got through 34 in 2010.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I plan on doing the seasonal book challenges but I'm not sure I will ever finish any of them.  My goal is just to increase my point total each time.  Need to get more than 100 points in the WBC.

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson.  I absolutely LOVED it!!

What will be your first book in 2011? I'm almost half way through Matched by Ally Condie and then I'll read Hex Hall.

What's your goal for 2011?  Originally I wanted to do 111 in '11, but not sure with a toddler if I'll be able to, so I set a small goal of 50 but will try to go higher.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? The WBC (and other seasonal challenges).. this is my first time doing one and I'm looking forward to broadening my reading choices.

    Books Read in 2016: 4/50

    35 books read in 2011
  • Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010? Will Grayson Will Grayson

What will be your first book in 2011? I started Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and The Handmaid's Tale on the 30th. The first book I actually start in 2011 will most likely be Still Alice

What's your goal for 2011? My goal this year is again 75 books. It was my goal for 2010 as well and I only made it through 71 but I did have a page count of 27,945

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?

Now that I read books on my Nook from the library I find I have a hard time doing the quarterly challenges because I don't know when I'll get a book (if I have it on hold etc). I think I'm happier just to read and shoot for 75 books but I am changing jobs and taking 10 days off in between so I may end up doing wbc after all if I get bored :o

Challenges: We'll see. I'm sitting out WBC to make some headway on my to-read list.

My goals for the year are to read, but keep it in check. I tend to neglect everything else for a book, so I'm giving myself a small goal for the year. I also want to participate in the WBC. Thanks for the recommendations!
