New Year Roll Call

Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010?

What will be your first book in 2011?

What's your goal for 2011?

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?

Re: New Year Roll Call

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

What will be your first book in 2011? I just started Anna and the French Kiss and Committed. First book that will be started in 2011 will probably be Reshaping It All by Candace Cameron Bure.

What's your goal for 2011? I finally gave in and signed up for the 111 in '11 challenge. Yikes!

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? So far other than the 111 in '11 I'm signed up for the Immigrant Stories Challenge from the blog Books in the City. I'm really excited about this. I'm aiming for the This Land is My Land? option of 4-6 but may go up to the top level.

Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010? Deadly Sanctuary (freebie Kindle book). Not a bad mystery, and the price was right!

What will be your first book in 2011? Well, I officially jumped on the Outlander bandwagon this morning, and I'm about 50 pages into it. I'm looking forward to it getting exciting!

What's your goal for 2011? I just would like to read more! 2010 was busy with buying a house and getting married, so I'm looking forward to having time to get back to books!

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I'm planning on doing the seasonal book challenges, starting with WBC as motivation to keep reading and go beyond my typical book comfort zone.

  • Last book finished - Um, I have no idea. Possibly Blindness, but I feel like I read something between it and The Stand (which I'm not done with so it'll be a 2011 book). I can't remember what though, which is pretty annoying.

Technically my first 2011 book will be The Stand, but the first one I start in '11 will probably be something from the library (Anna and the French Kiss if they have it in).

Goal - 75 books with an option to upgrade mid-year. We're moving so I know my count will be less than normal, but I don't know how much less so I'm leaving myself open for "renegotiations" in six months. In a normal year I'd probably go for 111 or even 150.

75 in 2011. HP re-read before DH2. My own WBC 25-point challenge (though I won't do much else of WBC probably).

What will be your first book in 2011? Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris.

What's your goal for 2011? No goals. I read for fun.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? No challenges either.

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Started last night and finished Anna and the French Kiss this morning. I thought it was lovely.

What will be your first book in 2011? I downloaded Hex Hall today, and am also working on Outlander for the second time so that I can get started on the other books in the series.

What's your goal for 2011? I want to say 111 but I haven't decided if that is too crazy yet.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I think 111 in '11-- I haven't really looked at the WBC challenge yet, but I would consider doing that too.

Just ordered my Kindle3 with Xmas $$ and my new and very beautiful cover from Oberon (), so I'm pretty excited to get started on all these new books!

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? The Tension of Opposites

What will be your first book in 2011? Clockwork Angel (I was hoping to finish it tonight, but doubt I will.)

What's your goal for 2011? No goal

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? No challenges

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Archenemy by Frank Beddor

What will be your first book in 2011? Under the Dome by Stephen King

What's your goal for 2011? I'm shooting for 100, but we'll see how that goes.  That was my 2010 goal and I only ended up with 40 (granted, it's not easy getting reading time in with 2 kids under 2).

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?  I plan on trying.  I usually get 4 or 5 books in, and then I forget to check in and stray from my spreadsheet.  It's a goal of mine to actually finish a challenge.

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Breathless by Dean Koontz

What will be your first book in 2011? I plan on reading Dragonfly in Amber on my phone tonight in bed, but I am starting Harry Potter in the morning.

What's your goal for 2011? Survival. (88 in 2011 if you meant the reading goal lol)

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I am not going to do the WBC, but I might do the spring one.

  • Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010?

    - Catching Fire from the Hunger Games series

What will be your first book in 2011?

    - Mockingjay

    What's your goal for 2011?

    - Reading-related: read 50 books by the end of the year. Non-reading-related: Lose some weight, focus on making more time for myself during the day, treating myself well, and overall being happier going into the following year.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?

    - I wasn't planning on it, since I have so many that I want to read at the moment. Maybe I'll start later on though once I've gotten some of the ones on my list out of the way. It looks like fun!

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Sweet Nothings by Catherine Anderson

What will be your first book in 2011? The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

What's your goal for 2011? 25 books in 2011.  First time I have set a goal for number of books in a year so I am starting out small.

  • Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010? Salem's Lot and I loved it

What will be your first book in 2011? Probably My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler, it is my selection for a book about sex in the WBC

What's your goal for 2011? 111 Books.  I was just gonna shoot for a 100, but I really liked the fish.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I really want to participate in the seasonal challenges, but we will see how well I do with the WBC as to whether or not I do any more.

Holy newbie explosion!! Welcome! So since it will probably be slow over the weekend I figured we'd do a little roll call post.

What was the last book you finished in 2010? The Last Sacrifice by Richelle Meed.  It was the 6th and final book in the Vampire Academy series.  The entire series is really great! Very recommended!

What will be your first book in 2011? I'm about 25% into The Girl Who Played With Fire so that will be my first book finished in 2011.

What's your goal for 2011? I still really haven't decided.  I've done a 50 books & 50 audiobooks challenge the last two years and not made it.  This year I ended up with 54 books and 43 audiobooks.  I'd like to finally get 50 of both but I'm not sure if I should make my book goal 60 for the year.

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? Not sure yet!

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010?

The Reason for God - Timothy Keller

What will be your first book in 2011?

Not sure yet!! I have Her Fearful Symmetry, Certain Girls, Sammy's Hill and Sammy's House on my bookshelf right now that I haven't touched - so probably one of those. Any suggestions on which to try first?

    What's your goal for 2011?

I'm aiming for 11, just to be festive, lol. I'm in my second semester of an RN program so most reading is all devoted to that. If I can accomplish 11, I'll be thrilled!

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)?

Maybe - but I'm not sure what they are or where to find them :)

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Mini-Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

What will be your first book in 2011? been reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese

What's your goal for 2011? I'm going to try for 100

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I probably won't do WBC but I might do some of the later ones

  • What was the last book you finished in 2010? Persuasion by Jane Austen (I really liked it, but it was Austen, so I sort of expected to)

What will be your first book in 2011? Gone With the Wind!  I started it and then put it down when I got a kindle because I reaaaally wanted to try reading on a kindle but I didn't feel like spending 8 or 9 bucks to get the kindle version of Gone With the Wind.  I'm pretty excited to read it.

What's your goal for 2011? I decided on 125 (the puppy pushed me over the edge, I'm a sucker for a cute puppy...and apparently the animated versions are no exception)

Are you planning on doing any challenges this year (so far anyway)? I'm going to halfheartedly do the WBC at this point.  I like how it motivates me and I love filling out my spreadsheet.  I'm such a dork.  Also, even though I'm not one for making resolutions, I decided to try the 101 things in 1001 days challenge and a lot of the things on the list I challenged myself to do are book related: read War and Peace, Gone With the Wind, Anna Karenina, Crime and Punishment, 20 books off of the 1001 books list, finish reading all Jane Austen's books, plus 10 other classic books that aren't specifically listed already...so I guess that'll probably end up being another 10 off the 1001 books list?  Enh, maybe I'll change that.  Anyway, I'm pretty excited!

Happy 2011 everybody and happy reading!
