Postage question

I looked at the USPS website, but I'm still not totally sure...

Can cards that are size 4x8inches be mailed without extra postage?

Re: Postage question

  • It should be fine as long as it's not too thick. Our Christmas cards were probably about that size and I only used one stamp.

  • I've never thought to measure an envelope, but I'm pretty sure that our wedding invitations were 5 by 7. I do know that a regular stamp is good for a letter up to 1 ounce in weight.
  • I think they won't charge me extra, because their site says it meets the minimum size requirements. They do have a list of cases where postage is extra (forget the term, something about being "non machinable"), but that's for bulky/sqaure/etc letters. Our wedding invites were square and we had to pay extra. But 4x8 isn't square.

I found some really cute birth announcements for a great deal, but they are 4x8. Just wanted to make sure postage wasn't extra for them.

  • Postage shouldn't be extra but make sure you can either find envelopes for them or they come with envelopes. I am not sure that a 4.25x8.25 inch envelope is common.

    They come with envelopes. Smile
