Unable to loose weight on my own

Has anyone tried Acai berry?  If not does anyone have anything that can help me get my weight under control with the help or eating right and excerising?

Re: Unable to loose weight on my own

  • To answer your question, no I have not tried Acai.

What kind of efforts have you gone through to lose weight?  Have you tracked your calorie intake faithfully over an extended amount of time?  Have you been measuring your portion sizes?  The reason I ask is because like you, I thought that I was "eating right" and couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to lose much weight even though I was exercising intensively.  Come to find out, once I started measuring portion sizes and being realistic about how much I was eating, only then did I realize I was eating way too much.

Many ladies on here have had success with various methods.  I used Weight Watchers and it really worked for me.  Good luck!

  • I haven't tried the actual acai berry, but I've had it incorporated into a juice with other fruit juices.  To be honest, it's not going to be the magic bullet because weight management boils down to calories -- calories in from food and calories out from physical activity.

Have you considered meeting with a registered dietitian?  You can get one-one help with a nutrition professional who can help you set personalized goals and develop personalized strategies that work for you, and you can meet with him/her regularly for increased accountability and success.  You can find one in your area at:

     Best wishes to you!

  • First off, yes you *can* lose weight on your own.  Don't have a defeatist attitude.. that will keep you down no matter what.  You might want to look for some support, whether it's Weight Watchers, starting up your own blog (like I did), or just telling family and friends what you are up to.  No one said that losing weight was easy, and I can't begin to tell you how much sweat I have put into it exercise wise or the mental challenge of being able to control your eating habits.  But in the end, you *can* do it.  Good luck!
  • It's 'lose weight', not 'loose weight'

And yes you can do it on your own.  There are no magic pills or potions to make you lose weight.  If there were, we would all be skinny.

You did not put the weight on overnight, don't expect it to come off that way either.  Lots of us on here have lost weight using WW or Sparkpeople, but it takes dedication.  You have to watch what you eat and be strict about it.  I measure all of my food and track exactly how many calories I eat every day.  I exercise for at least an hour 5 days a week.  Everyone can make a million excuses of why it won't work, but you have to have a positive attitude and you can do it.  Don't deprive yourself, have a treat every now and then, but account for it in your calories.

    good luck!
