I have a question for you.

When you ran Detroit, did you wear your Garmin?  If you did, what happened when you went through the tunnel?  Did it turn off at all, or just say you had no pace?  I'm curious since I love my Garmin now and am looking forward to having it keep my on track for the half in Detroit and am wondering if the tunnel with throw a wrench in my plans.  TIA.

Re: ~*~daisysle~*~

  • I wish I could help you but I did not have a Garmin when I ran Detroit.  I know others did around me but I am not sure what they did when going through the tunnel.  Sorry I can't be more helpful!

  • I'm not in Detroit but I have a Garmin and sometimes run through (small) tunnels or underpasses.  Make sure the AutoPause function is OFF, otherwise the clock and everything will just stop when you enter the tunnel.  As long as it's not autopausing, the clock will keep running, but the satellite will lose you... then when you come out on the other side, your distance/pace readings will be wonky for a bit (since the Garmin will think you made NO progress while you were in the tunnel, and then instantaneously went from one end of it to the other) but it will all even out in the end.

    2012 Races:

    10/20 - Indianapolis Marathon Relay

  • Thanks, ladies.  I never turn auto pause on so hopefully I'll be fine.  As long as it keeps recording time!  I'm kind of hoping that when I go to upload my info after the race, that Garmin will account for that mile under water!
