Free Meal Tracking Website?

Hi,

I am interested in finding a website where I can track my eating habits and my activities for free.  I know that years ago I used to use ediets, and it was free, but it appears that it's NOT free anymore.  You used to be able to put in your activity levels and it would calculate how much more you have to do or less you have to eat to lose weight... That sort of thing.

I have about 20 pounds that I'd like to lose.  I'm currently 160, the highest I've ever been, and I'd love to get down to 140 or even 130 again. (I'm 5'8").   I've used weightwatchers in the past successfully, but I'm looking for something online that's FREE this time.  I know that you girls will have great suggestions for me, so I figured I'd come here first!  I usually spend my time on thebump although I haven't had "success" yet, if you know what I mean... I was kinda waiting to lose weight till "after" I got pregnant, but I am sick of waiting.  SOOO... Here I am!

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me!

  • I like livestrong.com. Sparkpeople.com is popular too.  Both are free.

FITDAY!  That's the one I used to use!  I forgot about that one.

What are the pluses and minuses of fitday that you like or don't like?

What do you like about livestrong?  I only need the activity and calorie counting stuff... I'll use this website for chatting!

Do they have calorie listings for restaurant food or full meals or do you have to enter individual ingredients?

  • I like fitday. I like that I can put in custom foods. So, I can pick up something that had nutritional info on the back and plug it in. I can also go back to this later and plug it in. Deffinitely a plus because I tend to eat the same things.

Sometimes their measurements are off from what the nurtritional info says. It can be annoying. Also, I have trouble logging in things when I go out to eat.

I do not know if this is any better on spark. I think livestrong may have more restaurant foods on it.

  • I like Livestrong because I think they have the best database of food--I've never NOT been able to find anything there, including restaurant food.  I also really like their calorie recommendations--I think Sparkpeople's are way too low.

I used Fitday for awhile but didn't think their database was as good.
