Nike+

Wanting some more info on the Nike+...

Which do you have the one on your wrist or for your shoes?

What if you are awalker?  Does this still work or is there something else out there?

Likes/Dislikes?

Worth the money and other options?

Re: Nike+

  • Also, do i have to have the nike+ ready shoes or can I put the sensor in my New Balances?
  • * I have the one for the shoes, but I have Brooks, so I bought the shoelace pocket to hold the sensor.

    * I've heard it still works for walking, but I just use the pedometer feature on my Nano for walks.

    * I had that whole calibration-issue today, but aside from that I love it. I love how when I set a run for specific distance, it counts the run down for me. I love hooking it up to the computer and trying to beat my times.

    * I've felt it's been worth every penny and then-some.

  • Which app for the Nano do you use?  I am finding different apps to load to my Nano.

    Thanks!

  • I have the one for my shoe

It has a "walk" calibration setting

    Love it

Worth it to me as I don't want a Garmin or similar

I wear the sensor in a pod on my Puma shoes :)

I've never uploaded any apps for my Nano - it came with a pedometer, and instantly uploaded the Nike+ when I plugged in the sensor.

I have asics and put the pod on the top of my foot and slip it in the shoe.  Not the most comfortable but not bothersome enough that I cannot run.

I think its worth the money because it does so much.  I like that I can log onto the nike website and plan, track and reach my goals.

  • I will be buying the sportband very soon.  I was so excited to find that they make one that doesn't require an ipod since I live like a caveman without one.  Sorry I don't have any experience with it but I was excited about this news!

This, except swap Puma with Asics.

  • I absolutely love it!  Especially considering the price (about $30).  I use it on all my runs so I can upload them to Nike + and see my progress.  I have the shoelace pod a few others have mentioned.  You'll just need to make sure you calibrate it, mine was waaay off for me when I first got it.

  • I have the Sportband and love it.  I have a Sony MP3 Player that I love and didn't want to switch to an iPod, just to use Nike+.

I also will not give up my Asics for Nikes, so I use a shoe pouch that I bought on Amazon for like $4 to attach the sensor to my shoes.

I've had to recalibrate it as my stride has changed, but other than that, I've had no problems and I absolutely love it.  Some day I'd like to upgrade to a Garmin, but that's not coming anytime soon since we simply can't afford it.

Also, you can calibrate a walk and a run stride.

  • I have one and I love it, it's a fun little game to play with yourself and track your distances.

My calibration is off for the treadmill (I've heard of some runners having a chip for the treadmill and a chip for street running). However when I synch with Dailymile.com I just adjust the treadmill distance to the exact distance I ran.

My NikePlus.com miles are always a bit inflated (not too extreme but if I'm on the treadmill and I run 5 miles it says 6.3) so I liken that account to vanity sizing for jeans. Ha!

I wear Brooks so I bought the shoelace pouch.
