Back in MA...

DH and I decided to come home today.  He felt really bad admitting that he had to get back to work for Tuesday but eventually told me, and in the end I agreed it was a good idea to come back early.  We both get to relax tomorrow and then I don't have to go back to work until Wed so I am going to relax even more and get a mani/pedi.

It was great seeing all my family, but of course sad under such circumstances.  We just had a graveside service for my grandfather and I couldn't believe how many people showed up.  I also ended up speaking and OMG it was soo hard.  I got really choked up and couldn't do anything but sob for a minute or two.  But I am glad I did speak and shared some of my favorite memories of him.  My grandmother was glad I spoke and so was my mom because I am the oldest grandchild and knew him the best.  It was very sad, but I am glad he isn't suffering anymore.

There was so much belly rubbing (which I hate!!) But was glad we had something happy to talk about with all the relatives.  I can't wait to find out what they are so we can come up with a name to honor my grandfather.

Anyway, thanks for all the t&ps before and I hope you are all having a great weekend!

  • I'm glad you were able to go and that you were able to speak at the service. It was also nice that you were able to give your family something happy to talk about...even though they drove you crazy with the belly rubbing! :)

  • Glad you got back safely.  Funerals are bittersweet--sad, but nice to see family.  Thoughts and prayers continue!

  • I am behind on posts and saw late about your grandpa.  Sorry to hear about it, but am glad you got to get home to pay your respects.

Good for you for speaking!  I gave my Father's eulogy and it was the hardest thing I think I've ever done but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  I know your grandpa is proud :)
