Recommend Book

I need an audio book for the road trip to Kentucky over the weekend.  I can't keep listening to Twilight or Pride/Prejudice.... DH makes fun of me. :)

I'll definitely look  into the podcasts that were mentioned earlier... but does anyone have any book reccomendations?

Re: Recommend Book

  • Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.  They are making it into a movie and I think it's supposed to come out this summer (starring Julia Roberts).  I really enjoyed reading that book.

  • I don't know if they have them on tape, but check out the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers... probably my favorite series of the last 10 years.  It's historical fiction from the time of the Roman Empire... she used to be a romance writer so it's definitely not boring but not at all romance novel-y.
  • What about a John Grisham novel?  I really want to pick up the Harry Potter audiobooks, but I haven't yet.  I wonder if anyone would say anything if I listened to them at work.

    Safe travels to Kentucky!

  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett! SO good!

  • If you like mystery/action/suspense/crime drama I recommend Vince Flynn or David Baldacci.  Both authors are people my DH introduced me to (I read voraciously and it was inevitable that I'd wander into DH's books when I ran out of reading material).  I could see that being very entertaining for both of you.

My mom is into the series First Women's Detective Agency.  It is all about this woman private investigator in an African country that is escaping my memory right now and she solves all sorts of little mystery crimes.  My mom said they're super good.

  • This isn't a recommendation for a specific book... but we discovered that our local public library has audio books for FREE! There is a limited selection, but still worth it. Because I love free. You might want to check it out.

Oh, I'm on it.  I only check out audiobooks from the library - I don't buy them.

    Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!!
