have you ever noticed...

that retailers never apologize anymore? i don't know if they just don't want to admit responsibility or what, but it seems like whenever you're inconvenienced because of their error, they don't care.

example: CVS. i hate that place and don't know why i don't just change my prescriptions to somewhere else already. i don't know how many times i've been in there and my prescription hasn't been ready and they just tell me to come back later. no sorry, no nothing.

another example: last week i ordered a photo online to be picked up at the store. got my confirm, got an email saying it was being printed. i go to the store and i'm told to reorder it. no sorry. the next day i go in again and still no photo and they blame me (said i must have chosen a different store to pick it up - i checked - i didn't). still no sorry. i then called again, and it wasn't there so i reordered then called and finally they said it was there. then i got there and picked up the picture and the owner asked me for the money. i explained to him, no, i paid before and it wasn't ready so i had to go home and reorder. he says, "oh okay, no problem."

ummmm... that's when homegirl lost her patience. so i say, "actually it was a problem." so he says "what?" and i proceed to tell him about my 3 visits and  2 phone calls just to get this damn photo and then I say and NO ONE ever said sorry for the inconvience. well, he said sorry but by that point it didn't matter.

retailers just don't value customers anymore. people don't understand a simple acknowledgement of the hassle could go a long way.

  • If there's a way, I'd file a formal complaint too. I have noticed the same thing too...Don't even get me started on the Target in Annapolis!!!

  • It really depends on the company.  When I worked for the Amway, then Quixtar, call center we were trained to apologize as if we had made the mistake, error, whatever.  Barnes & Noble didn't really have problems, but if we did we were told the same thing.  Apologize even if you specifically weren't the one to make the mistake.

But yeah, some companies just care about the bottom line, not keeping customers happy.

  • Nothing is worse than giving a business your money and being treated like they don't need it. I used to work for Longs, and loved it. Now CVS bought them out and I just feel like I'm walking on to the death star every time I go there. Their customer service standards are non-existant.

  • CVS has to be the worst damn place in the retail world. They've tried to give me wrong  medications 3 times. I don't know why I don't switch pharmacies.
