I know we don't lack opinions here

So I am thinking of starting a blog also but instead of being informative or military based I want it to be more like a letter to our friends and family that I update when something new happens. What do y'all think? I hope that I am in encroaching on someone's idea if I am I'm sorry.

  • Those are really common. I don't think you are taking someone's idea by doing that.

I think your family/friends will like it.

  • It sounds like a good idea.  It sounds like you wouldn't have to repeat things a lot then.  Tell people about the blog when they start asking questions.  Just make sure it is limited info.  You don't want certain information to get into the wrong hands.  Or Aunt Sue blabbing about all the specifics on her FB page.

    I say go for it!

  • I started my own blog when Dh left. I figured it would be a good way to keep me focused, and be able to express myself. If people read it, great. If they don't, no harm. I figure it might let my family know what's really going on. Because I certainly am not going to call them up when I am having a bad day.
  • Great idea.  That's basically what mine is even though I started it before he left.

"What you feel only matters to you. It's what you do to the people you say you love, that's what matters. It's the only thing that counts."
  • I did that, It is private but I just did not want C to feel left out on the things that go on.

He hasn't seen it, but I have kinda told him about it. It is a way for me to "talk and vent" to him, but now send 85 emails a day, and he stays in the loop with what is going on around here

  • That's what most blogs are, I think! Mine's like that, and it's been such an awesome way to keep in touch with my family and friends now that we live so far away.

It's nice to just be able to chat with them when we talk on the phone or see each other, rather than having to give the play-by-play of our last however many months (since they've already read it).

    Great idea!

  • ummm... sounds like a great blog. I'd use a password and send a link to family only so you can be a little more candid.

This. H and I are looking into sites for this as well, primarily to make it easier for our parents to stay in the loop.
