Ha! You have such better rec's for my area than I do! :D  It's funny that though I live here, I don't really know "the places" to go!

Re: *ctgirl*

  • I've been here 8 years now.  Ask anyone who has been to Germany what they've seen.  They've all been to Neuschwanstein, the Eagle's Nest, Berlin, etc.  If anyone has been to Stuttgart, they've been to the Mercedes and Porsche Musems.  I haven't done any of this.

We spent more than a week *driving* (so different) around Emilia Romagna.

Embarassingly, we rarely go into churches, and never go to museums.

How are you, btw.  Haven't seen you in a few days  :)

  • Ha, yeah, it's difficult to drive here. :D  We don't go into the churches or museums either.  It's just not our thing.  I've been to Florence half a dozen times, and have never been into the Uffizi. heeh!!

I'm good.  You?  We went to Milan yesterday to hang out with some friends we haven't seen in a while.

  • And I've never been to Milan.  Just through it.  I hope you had a good time with your friends.

What's it like right now with the oil spill?  I read that it has reached Parma.  Such a sad situation.

How are things going with the move, btw?

I'm glad to see we're not the only ones who don't do museums :)

  • Oh Amoro, I just read that you want to go to San Marino.  We actually drove all the way out there, on Easter Monday.  MISTAKE!  Nowhere to park.  I've read that it is really nice there at night when the tour busses leave.  It looks so cool driving up to it, because the center towers above the street, high on a hill.

I really want to go there for an overnight.

  • Um... what oil spill?  I haven't heard anything about it.  I suck at being an Italian.

Oooh... Easter Sunday would be tough. lol!  We might have to try it after H gets back from Tokyo in a few weeks.

  • Your DH is in Tokyo now?  Did that do anything to the move?

There was a pretty big oil spill up by Milan last week.  A few oil tanks leaked, and it is believed it was not an accident.  They tried to contain it, but with little luck.  The oil is moving down the Po towards the Adriatic.  That's where we vacation and swim every summer.  It may also effect the water-heavy crops, like rice.  I feel so sad about it.

  • No, he's not in Tokyo yet, but will be in a week or two.  We've pushed the move back to May I believe.

Huh, I can't believe I didn't hear about it.  Granted, I don't watch the Italian news, but no one's said anything to us either. That's really sad.  How could they not contain it?  That's really odd.

  • Its all over CNN.  Well, it was before the earthquake.  They used floating barricades to try to control it, but there was too much oil.  It is a huge disaster.

May, huh?  The good news is of course that it will be warmer then.  So, it was pushed back about a month and a half, right?  Gives you a little more cushion to get things together and ready for the move.  Could be worse.

  • Well crap.  I doubly suck then!  I can't believe I didn't see that. :( *shameface*  But, I have been watching Olympics coverage in the AM instead of news.

Yup, we'll see what happens with May.  Still haven't gotten everything cleared through HR yet.  Ah, HR.  The bane of human existence. ;)
