I remember! Random question

What's the speed limit on the road where you live?

Do people tend to follow it?

Re: I remember! Random question

  • On my actual street it's 25 mph, I would say it's followed for the most part. On the road over, which is a main road, it's 55mph and I would say people usually go about 60+. I've seen cops on it several times.
  • i live on a country road and i think country roads in MS it is suppose to be 35 BUT everyone flys down our road since it is a cutthrough to get to the major highway. It makes me so MAD!

THIS. We live on a county road where the speed limit isn't posted. If it isn't posted in AR, the limit is 35 mph. We have a large front yard, so our house sits a bit back off the road. There is no reason a gravel truck should be going so fast that my walls rattle.

  • 25mph, but it's kind of a main road, so people always go faster.

  • Ummm...prob 35.  But on the busy street by my house people drive 45 and up.

  • Our speed limit is 25mph.  I think even that's too fast, simply b/c so many people park on the side of the road, only one car can get by in many places.  We also have lots of kids in our neighborhood, and lots of us have to cross the street to get our mail.

That being said, people FLY down our road!  Many of them use it as a short cut to get to other parts of the neighborhood.

One of our neighbors is a sheriff.  He told DH the other day that he has ticketed people on our street before (I think even off duty).  He clocked one idiot teenager going 38, which I know doesn't sound that fast...but our street is only one block long!

  • i think 25 or 20. i just go slllow

the roads around my house go from 35-25 randomly and you never really know. i got pulled over once and got $150 ticket b/c i didn't realize the speed had changed from 35-25. i was going 30 and got the stupid thing. grrr!

for the most part everyone follows the speed limit b/c we all know those coppers are being sneaky sitting out in people's driveways and behind bushes to get you. I see at least one cop a day on the road to my house clocking people. guess the city of hoover is desperate for cash. haha

  • 25 on my street (in a subdivision), and 40 on the road leading into the subdivision.

  • oh.... i'd say most people follow it pretty closely. there are lots of kids in the neighborhood and people tend to be mindful of that. there are a few crazy drivers but overall people respect the limit.

OH I HATE THAT! I had it happen every other night about 11:00 last summer. My room is at the back of our house. There is no reason I should have heard or felt their radio with my tv on. I didn't call the cops because I never knew if it would happen again or not. I found out a few months later they were going to a field down our road to go muddin'. One of the kids was a farmer's kid, and they got in BIG trouble for it. His dad made him go apologize and then fill in the ruts in the field with a shovel. lol

  • It's 25 all the way around my house, but everyone does 40+. it's obnoxious!
  • I live in the boonies.  Our speed limit is "end 35mph limit" so basically how ever fast you'd like to go.  We have to roll down the window and listen to get out of the drive way because we live on a blind curve and can only see about 40 feet to the left.

  • On the street we live on: 35 - in the summer the cops actually sit across from our house as a speed trap because it seems like everyone does 45+ down out street.

The main highway I take to work is 55, but if you don't do 70-80 you will get run off the road. I guess it's the East Coast fast paced way of life to always be in a hurry!
