Work Vent

So we got pounded with snow last night. I teach PreK at a childcare center and my PreK class follows a local school district's schedule...so they have a snow day today so therefore I don't have my PreK class....you would think I would get a snow day too. NOPE! I have have to still go into work! Ugh! It's probably because everyone else has called in (people who call in all the time!)

I just want to cuddle up in my bed and not have to go out in the snow covered roads. DH is taking me but I know the center will be low on kids today so they will end up sending me home and I have no way to get home!!!

Re: Work Vent

  • Ugh, I'm sorry.... Snow Day politics suck.
  • Ugh, that is so frustrating!
  • The kids aren't there but you have to go anyway?  What do you do without the kids?

  • So I got here and we are WAY overstaffed. Hardly any kids showed up for other rooms. They are sending people home left and right but now I can't go home because I don't have my car here! Ugh! Well next snow day I'm not coming!
  • I hate that!  I work at a college and we have a new President who is not a fan of snow days....the most recent snow days we have been the only school open.  AND everyone is our office calls in....not me....I'm here!
  • This sounds just like my boss.  We are a small company, and yet when we just recently got pounded w/ snow everyone is expected to be here.  He even went so far as to go pick one of technicians up and drive him to the job he was supposed to be just b/c he wanted to make the money.  I get it to a point, but at some point it becomes more about the safety of people than making a few dollars.  I can barely leave my desk to go to the bathroom without an argument 1/2 the time.  I feel for you being stuck at work.  Been there done that, too!
