I feel like I won the farmer's market lottery!

I was super hungover this morning and didn't have any food and somehow managed to drag myself in pajamas to the farmer's market... for $40 I got

red and golden beets

red bell peppers, yellow bell peppers

jalapenos

baby red potatoes

an entire plants worth of rosemary (for 75cents) seriously it's a giant bunch I have it drying right now

two bunches of kale

gala apples

six pieces of lemongrass

a bunch of celery

a bunch of carrots

a loaf of asiago sourdough bread

foccacia

leeks

two artichokes

two bags of wild picked mushrooms

and baby bok choy

 Uh... time to get cooking!

P.S. Hannah, when I'm more awake and plan ahead we should coffee and farmers market again soon

I know I am always so tired on the weekends I sleep in for days... but yes, we should. I have a week off in 2 weeks so maybe that first Sat (the day before Val day). Congrats on your "winnings"!
  • You officially made me hungry! It's 10:30pm, whaddami gonna do NOW?
  • Mmm... now I'm hungry! All that stuff sounds so yummy!
  • That's great!

Can you possibly post the recipe for the kale chips? I've been looking for more things to do with kale and I have a feeling those will come in handy as K gets older.

Sounds like I should have done breakfast club at my house!

Kale chips are my new dirty secret because I don't really like kale but I kept getting it in my CSA box last year.

    They couldn't be easier:

Cut stems off of kale leaves and spread on a baking sheet. Spray with an olive oil mister (or alternatively toss in a tablespoon or two of olive oil) then dust with sea salt. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until crispy (make sure they don't burn)

    That's it.

You can experiment with seasoning different things on it: parmesean cheese, garam masala, curry powder, etc....
