Northend Nesties - Gym Recommendations

So my new house is far far away from my lovely Redmond Golds Gym, and I need to find a new gym...

I live in the Silver Lake area, close to Seattle Hill Road, right across the valley from Snohomish (I think?)

Any suggestions for a gym?  I am looking for a gym with a pool...  I know there is Columbia, what do you know about the South Everett location?  Any other places you would suggest looking into?

Re: Northend Nesties - Gym Recommendations

  • Wow! You are only about a mile away from me, cool to have another Nestie so close.

I work out at the Silver Lake 24 Hour Fitness, it is super nice and pretty reasonably priced. I wish I could join Columbia but it is pretty pricey. 24 Hour does have a pool, it's not huge I think it's lap size.

  • I've never been there, but the YMCA is in the process of getting a huge makeover, including a pool.  I think it's technically the Mill Creek location?  Take 132nd east, turn right on Puget Park Dr (right at Safeway), and it's just past the fire station on the left.

  • Oh, and if you want to stick with Golds Gym, there's a location in Mukilteo.  Not super close to you, but certainly closer than Redmond!

  • I have had a membership at LA fitness for several years and DH and I used to go to the Mill Creek location a lot. It has a nice pool and pretty much anything else you'd want in a gym. They can be talked out of the huge initiation fee, so don't let them try to charge you that! It's fairly new, clean, and most of the time wasn't too crowded. Granted, this is the time of year for crowded gyms!

After your workout, you can undo all your calories burned at Thai Rhapsody across the street.

  • I belong to Columbia Athletic Club Silver Lake. It's pricey, but I like it a lot. I drive down from Lake Stevens just to go there.
  • you live right in my area! I used to go to columbia when i worked at microsoft (they paid for it) and it was really nice in there. I went to the Y recently that the other poster mentioned, the one not too far from safeway off 132nd and it seemed really run down but they are remodeling it. I was used to the one in Mukilteo which was really nice but we moved back in july.

I actually do kickboxing so if you are interested in any type of MMA I can tell you about my other gym, it does not have a pool though. It is strictly an MMA gym, that is where I currently go and have been there for 13 years, I love it and it is a great way to keep in shape! Good Luck!

  • Columbia is really nice, they have an outdoor pool now, not sure how long it is though. I assume it's a 25 yard pool. The Silver Firs Y is really nice too.
  • LA Total Fitness at Mill Creek Town Center has a pool.  The Silver Lake YMCA Wink is where several of my friends went.  There's a Gold's Gym on Bothell Everett Highway in the Mill Creek area heading down the hill toward Canyon Park.
