Re: jewels re shows

• Ooh, you are one day too early for Becky Shaw playing at the Wilma, however!!  there is a dress rehearsal tonight that they are accepting 50 people for.  I believe they are close to 50, but if this person is interested, it's free they just have to call the box office to get their name on the list.  It officially previews tomorrow and then opens Jan. 6th.  Since it's a dress rehearsal, there are tables and stuff in the house but definitely edgy.  Funny, dark, they are watching porn in the opening scene... it's about a blind date gone very wrong.

1812 Productions has This Is The Week That Is - political satire/comedy.  They do it every year around the holidays and change it based on major headlines.  I'd say that's pretty edgy if the folks are liberal...

Also look at Lantern Theatre Co's Scalpin http://www.lanterntheater.org/shows/2010_scapin.html

And New City Stage's When You Coming Back Red Ryder http://www.newcitystage.org/index.php

Not sure about those 2, but Lantern is a great company.  I don't know anything about New City, but they play at the Adrienne on Sansom St.

• i don;t think that the Red Ryder is playing on Tues nights.

I will pass along the other ideas !

with a caveat - I went to one show at Plays and Players and HATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Hi Francey!
• Ha about Plays and Players... I go to see PTC's stuff pretty regularly and I couldn't wait until they got the theater on Broad St!  I don't think I've been back since.
• and thank  you!
Hi Francey!
• You are most welcome!

P.S. I got my parents tix to Avenue Q at Kimmel for xmas and they are so psyched.  You've seen it, right?

• yes I have seen it!  and am going to see it again!  it is a wonderful show.  (we also got tix to Dreamgirls and Lion King!  Kimmel sent me an itunes card since we did the three shows - it had 12 show tunes on it!  yeeehaw!)
Hi Francey!
• BUTTING IN big time!

I didn't know Avenue Q was at the Kemmel Center. I've seen it on Broadway and I loved it. I'd love to see it again. Thanks for posting that!

• Kimmel sponsors the broadway series BUT the shows are at the Academy of Music.  Just fyi,
Hi Francey!
• As you already know, I am a Broadway geek and I have NOT seen Avenue Q!!  So many people are like whhaaat?? when I tell them this.  I did get the soundtrack way back in 2003 when it came out though, so I do know every word.  I was just dating my DH then and used to put the soundtrack on in the car and he used to sing "The Internet is for Porn" to me.  That's when I knew it was a love meant to last.

So we are going in June with my parents and I managed to get Parque box seats, so hopefully they won't be too bad.  I was informed from a co-worker that this is a non-equity tour though, which means that the actors are not union and the tour may not be of as good of quality than a real Equity Broadway tour.  My parents won't know the difference but I'm kinda pissed I spent $110 per ticket, when I could see it Off-Broadway in NYC for the same or less.  But I'm sure it will be good.  My Dad has actually been the one bugging me to see it.

Rum, awesome about that itunes thing!

• I'm also going to Avenue Q.  I haven't seen it yet, I don't know how I haven't seen it yet.  I also have the soundtrack.   However, the tickets are for the day before I'm due, so I may be vexed from seeing it yet again.  I'm bummed and hope the baby doesn't interfere because we have amazing seats.
