GIGANTIC big fat race AW! Halloween 5K

This is the first 5K I've run since before I was pregnant. It was windy and rainy this morning, but cleared up for the race, my neighborhood's first 5K.

Ran with four friends, and finished ahead of all of them. Could NOT believe my ears when the timing guy at the first mile called out "Nine." And then the Mile 2 man said "17:40." And THEN the clock when I crossed the finish line, not even going all out, said 27:22!

I ran my first post-baby 5K at a sub-9 mile pace!! Seriously, this is unbelievable for me. My previous 5K PR to date was 31:20 back in 2006.

:D

  • I also ran my first 5K on Halloween.  I finished in 39 mins but for me....finishing was the goal.  I have never been much of a runner.  Just after I hit the 2 mile marker I heard a familiar voice and there was my husband cheering me on.  Huge motivation for me.  That was the first race of many to come!!!
